At Least 15 Kennedys Snub RFK Jr. & Publicly Endorse Joe Biden For President

More than a dozen members of the Kennedy family shared which presidential candidate they're supporting in 2024 — and it's not Robert F. Kennedy Jr. On Thursday, April 18, at least 15 members of the Kennedy family endorsed Joe Biden during a campaign stop in Philadelphia. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is running as an independent. He's the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy and the son of Robert F. Kennedy Sr.; however, many of his relatives have made it clear that they do not support his candidacy.

"We want to make crystal-clear our feeling that the best way forward for America is to reelect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to four more years," RFK Jr.'s sister, Kerry Kennedy, said.

Kerry Kennedy also shared that she believes her father would have "horrified" by former President Donald Trump. She described Trump as "antidemocratic."

She didn't specifically refer to her brother's campaign, but implied that it would not be possible for RFK Jr. to win the election.

"In 2024, there are only two candidates with any chance of winning the presidency. We know them well," Kerry said during her speech.

"We can say today, with no less urgency, that our rights and freedoms are once again in peril," Kerry said while endorsing Biden. "That is why we all need to come together in a campaign that should unite not only Democrats but all Americans, including Republicans and independents, who believe in what Lincoln called 'the better angels of our nature.'"

Biden called the endorsements from the Kennedys “an incredible honor.” RFK Jr. also responded to the news.

"I hear some of my family will be endorsing President Biden today," RFK Jr. wrote on X in the morning before his relatives officially endorsed Biden. "I am pleased they are politically active — it’s a family tradition. We are divided in our opinions but united in our love for each other."

In his post on X, RFK Jr. also claimed that "many of [his] family members are working on and supportive of" his campaign. He said that his campaign "is about healing America."

Prior to endorsing Biden, members of the Kennedy family expressed concerns about RFK Jr.'s campaign. His sister Rory Kennedy previously told Good Morning America that she was worried that supporting her brother could "take votes away from Biden and lead to a Trump election."

Rory also previously told CNN that she loves her brother and admires some of the work that he's done, but she still doesn't support his presidential campaign. “I admire his past work as an environmentalist — because of him, we can swim in the Hudson. But due to a wide range of Bobby’s positions, I’m supporting President Biden," she told the outlet.

Kerry also told the outlet that although she loves her brother, she does "not share or endorse his opinions on many issues."
