Ben Shapiro Insists Actress Rachel Zegler Is Not ‘White’ Enough To Play Snow White

Disney has been turning its beloved animated classics into live action remakes for some time. It is hard to please everyone when it comes to much-loved characters. Conservative media personality Ben Shapiro recently took offense at the casting of Rachel Zegler as Snow White, even though it was announced two years ago.

Ben believes because the word white is in the name, Rachel, who is of Colombian and Polish descent, does not qualify. Twitter was quick to point out the ridiculous nature of his claims. Matt Walsh, Ben’s Daily Wire colleague, also got into the action and received an equal serving of backlash.

Ben’s delayed reaction was due to the fact that the Daily Mail published new photos of the project. “They’ve cast Snow White. Snow White is now going to be played by Rachel Zegler. OK?” Ben stated. “Now, Rachel Zegler, you may know ― again, her name is Snow White. Now, you might consider that racist, but that’s also the name of the actual fairy tale.”

Ben takes issue with the fact that in “the original 1936 Snow White” the fictional character is described as having “skin white as snow.” Ben also got his facts wrong here because the original movie came out in 1937. He believes Disney is messing with audiences and making things too "woke."

“[The word ‘white’] is literally in her name. That’s why she has her name,” his misguided rant continues. “So I guess just to like, screw with people, they’re casting ― Rachel Zegler’s a very talented person. It’s weird casting, you might say.”

Twitter users were quick to point out the absurdity of Ben’s rants.

“Since he’s so invested in this maybe he can explain why Goofy walked upright while walking Pluto on a leash?” quipped one user.

Another user took a more straightforward approach. “Conservative intelligentsia is mired in justifying white supremacy,” the commenter stated.

Ben’s buddy Matt Walsh agreed. "This is appropriation,” he claimed. “It is anti-white racism. Yes, it is racist to make Snow White not white." Thankfully, Twitter also took care of him.

“Climate change threatens the well-being of every person on Earth,” wrote one Twitter user. “But the right-wing prefers that you worry about the casting of a fairy-tale character.”

Another user utilized colorful language to make their point: “Have these guys considered getting a [expletive] life.”
