Actor Brendan Fraser is perhaps best known for his work in the blockbuster The Mummy franchise. But you maybe haven't thought about the Hollywood actor for quite some time.
As it turns out, Brendan stepped out of the spotlight for about a decade and has only recently opened up about his decision to do so. While he's had a steady stream of small roles, he hasn't been a leading man for several years.
Speaking with GQ, Brendan talked about some personal issues, including health problems and hospital stays, that he was facing and why they caused him to retreat. “By the time I did the third Mummy picture in China, I was put together with tape and ice," he told the magazine. "I was building an exoskeleton for myself daily.”
He then went on to explain that he had a plethora of intense surgeries as a result of his multiple injuries, as he's always been big on doing his own stunts. He had a laminectomy, a partial knee replacement, and vocal cord repair. This left him in and out of the hospital for almost seven long years.
He also confessed that there were many personal issues he was facing that caused him to put Hollywood on the back burner.
"I changed houses; I went through a divorce. Some kids were born. I mean, they were born, but they're growing up," he explained. "I was going through things that mold and shape you in ways that you're not ready for until you go through them.”
Luckily, the amazing actor is finally back in a new television series called Trust, and he's ready to get back into the spotlight.
