After her ex-husband Jelly Roll filed for divorce, Bunnie Xo got really candid about what happened on her Dumb Blonde podcast. Fans appreciated her honesty and vulnerability — and later noticed she seemed to have deleted the episode altogether.
During that particular episode, Bunnie described some of the challenges that led to their eventual divorce after 10 years of marriage. In spite of the difficulties they faced, she still emphasized that Jelly Roll is her “best friend.” So, while she definitely wasn’t bashing her ex-husband by any means, she still feels like people had an overly “negative” interpretation, which is part of the reason she deleted it.
Being honest is important to Bunnie, so she was also transparent about deleting the podcast episode.
She didn’t beat around the bush at all. On a new episode of her podcast, she confirmed that she did decide to delete the divorce episode. She explained that being so candid is what has allowed her to build the platform that she has. But this time, it “backfired.”
“I guess we’re all gathered here today to hear about the divorce podcast, and you know, I really thought out what I was gonna say to you guys about this, because one, I have built my platform on always being honest with you guys and always being upfront,” she said. “And it’s kind of backfired on me.”
It sounds like there are several reasons Bunnie deleted the episode. One of them was related to the amount of negativity that surfaced online after she uploaded it. ” For some reason, people always want to try to make things like a negative thing. And it’s really crazy,” Bunnie explained. “But I mean, I took it down because I realized I just don’t want one of the hardest moments of my life to become a permanent headline. I don’t want to live in that, you know?”
She doesn’t want to be known for her divorce.
The divorce episode of her podcast was extremely popular. To a lot of fans, the divorce seemingly came out of nowhere, and as people were looking for more information about what happened, it makes sense that they turned to Bunnie’s podcast, especially because she was so vulnerable and detailed.
It ended up being one of her most viewed episodes, and she made a lot of money off of it, she admitted. But that doesn’t really matter to her because this painful experience isn’t what she wants to be known for.
“I believe in being transparent with you guys, and that’s never ever ever going to change, but I also believe that people deserve the space to heal, to evolve, and to move forward,” she said. “You know, like that episode served a purpose for me at that time and it was real, it was honest, and it came from exactly where I was emotionally in that moment. But I’m not in that place anymore.”
She later added, “I don’t want the divorce to become my entire personality. I don’t want to be the poster child for divorce. I don’t want people DMing me saying, ‘I’m so sorry your husband left you.'”
In the aftermath of her divorce, Bunnie has been criticized for moving on too quickly.
She recently made headlines when she was spotted making out with a 24-year-old at her ex-husband’s bar. She has said Jelly Roll has started dating again as well.
From fans’ perspective, their marriage just ended a couple of months ago, when Jelly Roll filed for divorce on May 18.
Bunnie suggested that this is not the full story. “I’ve been mourning the loss of my marriage for at least a year…” she revealed. “There is so much behind the scenes that I have not spoken on, and that I will never speak on because it doesn’t matter. I will only tell you guys my part in the demise of my marriage.”
She understands why people think she seems so unfazed by the divorce, but in reality, she was “devastated” and people in her life were concerned about her well-being. She just didn’t share those moments online for everyone to see.
“When people see me out having fun and just living my best life, I can see where they would be like, ‘Wow, they just announced the divorce,'” she said. “But really, you guys have to understand I have been sitting in purgatory…for two and a half months in my studio house.”
Ultimately, her divorce is the story everyone’s talking about right now, but she doesn’t want that to be her story. “There’s so much more to be than just one painful chapter in my life,” she said.
