Céline Dion Shares Rare Photo Of Her Kids & Heartfelt Tribute To Late Husband

On the ninth anniversary of her late husband’s death, Céline Dion penned a heartfelt tribute and shared a rare photo of her kids. The singer and her late husband René Angélil tied the knot in 1994 and welcomed three kids together: René-Charles Angélil, 23, and twins Nelson and Eddy, 14. Céline’s husband died of throat cancer in January 2016.

On January 15, 2025, Céline wrote, “René, we can’t believe you’ve been gone nine years already. Not a day goes by that we don’t feel your presence, RC, Eddy, Nelson and I.” In the photo she shared, the “My Heart Will Go On” singer posed alongside her three kids. Sitting on a couch outside, they all smiled for the camera while wearing coordinating beige and white outfits.

Céline referred to her late husband as “my greatest champion, my partner, and the one who always saw the best in me.” Wrapping up her message, she added, “I honor you and you are forever missed mon amour … We love you.” Céline Dion and René Angélil first met in 1980, and went on their first date in 1987, when Céline was 19 years old. Due to their 26-year age gap, they initially kept their relationship from the public.

Eventually, the couple decided to not keep their relationship a secret anymore. In 1994, Céline told People that she was “afraid of what people would think” at first. However, “when you’re in love, you want to scream it to the world,” she said at the time.

In December 2024, Céline shared another heartfelt tribute to René on what would’ve been their 30th wedding anniversary. “You still fill our hearts, every day,” she wrote at the time. “You are everything for us. We miss you so much. Happy 30th anniversary, mon amour!” She signed the message off with “Celine xx… René-Charles, Eddy and Nelson.”

Recently, Céline has faced her own health challenges. In 2022, she announced that she had been diagnosed with stiff person syndrome. The rare neurological disorder has affected her ability to perform. When she was first diagnosed, she didn’t know how to share the news with her kids. Since they had already lost one parent, she didn’t want them to think that they would lose her, too.

“I was like, ‘OK, they already lost a parent. I don’t want them to be scared,'” she told People in 2024. “I let them know, ‘You lost your dad, [but] mom has a condition and it’s different. I’m not going to die. It’s something that I’m going to learn to live with.”
