What to Know
Women are praising Chelsea Handler for telling it like it is in an important PSA for “horny little” men. On February 27, the 51-year-old comedian shared a video that explained why men should get vasectomies. And with everything women go through, including relying on hormonal birth control and experiencing all of the uncomfortable side effects that can come with it, she really thinks it’s the least men can do.
Chelsea sat in bed topless as she shared this important message.
“You caught me giving myself a mammogram,” she started. “All good, you two. As a woman with natural breasts, not that that has anything to do with this, it is time to explore vasectomies.” In her video, she emphasized that women are “exhausted,” and that while men often claim that “using a condom doesn’t feel so good,” taking birth control or getting an intrauterine device (IUD) inserted is actually much less pleasant. Besides, relying on hormonal birth control also means that women are taking all of the responsibility when it comes to preventing pregnancy, which definitely gets old after a while.
Chelsea explained, “Since the beginning of time, women have been ducking and diving and dodging pregnancy face-first or Pikachu-first. Frankly, they’re exhausted. We’ve had to listen to men say things like, ‘But using a condom doesn’t feel so good’ or ‘Can’t you just take birth control?’ or ‘Oops, I forgot to pull out.'”
Clearly, Chelsea has had enough.
“Enough, you horny little pigs in blankets,” she asserted. She then went on to explain just a small part of what women have to go through when trying to prevent unwanted pregnancies. “Do you know how painful it is to get an IUD placed?” she said. “It feels like a mousetrap in your uterus, and sometimes those things don’t even catch all the mice.”
Of course, some women take birth control pills instead, but Chelsea explained that taking them often comes with uncomfortable side effects too. “And birth control?” she continued. “You think I want to be an adult woman with acne or have mood swings, or get a period that’s so heavy it feels like the Hoover Dam just broke? I don’t.”
On top of dealing with all of this, women are also dealing with the everyday sexism that comes with living in a patriarchal society. “Everybody already hates women enough,” Chelsea added. “I don’t need my insides to join in on the fun.”
Additionally, “Women are tired of making concessions for men, especially in the bedroom.”
Her example of this? “We have already been through enough, letting you wear socks while you penetrate us,” she said. So, of course, Chelsea presented a simple solution: vasectomies. “So man up, men,” she asserted. “And if you can’t do that, enjoy the company of your hands. Vasectomies, one snip and that’s it.”
In the comments on Instagram, other women thanked Chelsea for this PSA. One person told Chelsea that she’s actually “changing the world” with her powerful message. Another woman wrote, “Honestly we’re tired of being the only responsible ones.” And clearly, many others could relate and have likely spent years trying to explain what Chelsea shared in her video. “THANK YOU,” someone else commented. “You make me feel less like I am screaming into the abyss.”
In her video, Chelsea didn’t even touch on pregnancy and childbirth, but some people in the comments did. One of them shared another important reminder for men: “If I can push 3 watermelons out and now be in peri you can get a frikkin snip!!”
