A Christian influencer on TikTok, whose account is called Our Busy Bee Homestead, posted on the app that she Christian-ed so hard that she can no longer buy devil’s food cake in a box. Well, in her video, she admits she has “become so awake” with her Christian faith that she can’t buy what was once her favorite type of cake.
We all know the cake she is referring to. It comes in a box, typically with the Pillsbury logo on it, and the box includes a photo of an extremely moist and decadent slice of chocolate cake. According to this particular influencer, though, just eating food with the word devil in it is a non-starter and can no longer be part of her everyday life.

In her video, the influencer stands in the aisle of a grocery store and holds up a box of devil’s food cake. She says, “I’m at the grocery store, and I’ve become so awake in my faith that I just came to get my favorite brand of cake, devil’s food cake, and I can’t buy it.” She also laughs a little, so maybe this is just one big joke that other TikTok users don’t seem to get.
There is something to be said for the Duggars, a fundamentalist Christian family made famous from 19 Kids and Counting, referring to deviled eggs as angel pockets. A former Christian admitted on Reddit that the pastor’s wife at their former church refused to buy devil’s food cake, so that definitely seems to be a thing in some circles.
Users in an online Christian forum also questioned the devil’s food cake. Some users asked if it’s safe to eat the cake, while others pointed out that the devil has nothing to do with the actual cake or its ingredients.
In the comments under the TikTok, someone wrote, “I’m so awake in my faith that I now have no brain cells left. Give me a break.”
Another user questioned, “Do you think there is an actual demon inhabiting that box? Maybe set it up next to the angel food cake box and see if they go at each other.”
People made jokes about deviled eggs and angel hair pasta.

In the comments under the video, people cracked jokes at the influencer’s expense, given the context of her video. Whether she was totally serious when she made the video, she uploaded it and didn’t take it down when people began commenting to share their thoughts on her Christian convictions about food.
One person joked, “You can neutralize the evil by eating angel hair pasta first.”
Another added, “Are you not gonna eat deviled eggs anymore?”
“I feel you. Recovering homosexual and I can’t eat cucumbers, zucchini, or eggplants anymore,” someone else joked in the comments. “It’s just too much temptation!”
And the hits just kept coming in the form of more and more jokes about Christians and devil’s food cake, with one person writing, “I had Devil’s Food Cake last night and woke up screaming ‘Hail Satan!’ It all makes sense now.”
She later claimed it was just a joke.

In a follow-up video, the influencer appeared on-camera with an empty pan in front of her and a spoon in her hand. She says in the TikTok that some people just can’t take a joke. So, it seems, her take on devil’s food cake was meant in jest all along. Or, she wants people to believe that now that she has gotten so much hate for her original video. Either way, people are still commenting on the original video, trolling her.
