Christie Brinkley recently opened up about her skin cancer diagnosis. On Today on May 28, 2024, the 70-year-old model talked about how her diagnosis first came about and also shared some important pieces of advice for others.
This marks her first interview since she publicly shared her diagnosis earlier in March. "It's skin cancer awareness month, we're starting summer, and it's just time to remind everybody to really use your sunblock and a hat … and get a checkup," she advised.
She then went on to explain that she wasn't even scheduled for a checkup when the doctor found a concern. She was accompanying her daughter to the dermatologist and just so happened to ask the doctor to take a look at a spot on the side of her head at the end of her daughter's appointment.
"He looked and he goes, 'We've gotta do a biopsy immediately. This is something,'" she recalled. The skin cancer was discovered upon doing a biopsy, but thankfully they were able to quickly dive into action. "They got a great surgeon, a great … plastic surgeon to stitch it up and they took care of it."

"It's good that she told the world and to help us and to learn about it and to get checked," someone wrote in the comments.
Another person weighed in: "Skin cancer is serious There is no chemo for malignant melanoma. They just cut bits off you. Always always wear sun block factor 50 even if it’s over cast. Glad CB shared to the public. And check for spots."
