What to Know
People are praising actress Christina Ricci after she responded to a MAGA influencer’s fatphobic comment on social media. On March 18, conservative influencer Emily Wilson shared a photo of herself and captioned it with, “Post pilates cause fat chicks vote democrat 😎”
Meanwhile, Christina, who appeared in Mermaids and portrayed Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family when she was a child, wrote back with, “I’m skinnier than you you a–hole and I still vote democrat or as liberal as I can because there is more to life than being thin. What you contribute to this world is what matters, loser.”
People loved her response.

Yeah, whether or not she’s skinnier than Emily doesn’t matter. But some critics appreciated that Christina went there anyway. “Wow, she used her skinniness for good. You wanna bully women for their weight because you think being thin makes you better than people? Well, here comes someone skinnier than you, taking you down in the only language you know,” one person wrote on Reddit.
Some other women responded to Emily’s original post in a similar way. A few even shared their own post-pilates photos. “Post Pilates because not only do my thicc thighs save lives but they also vote against rapists and [pedophiles] being in office,” one person commented. Someone else wrote, “The only thing stronger than my core is my moral compass. Fit & against fascism.”
And several others pointed out that they, like Christina, really don’t care how skinny Emily is. “It’s not your looks babe, it’s your heart,” someone commented. “Hope that helps. 🖤 — A democrat who believes in equal rights, compassion, and basic human decency.” On Reddit, another person chimed in with, “Nice try Emily with the weight shaming. I’m far less embarrassed about being fat than I would be if I voted Republican.”
Emily clearly didn’t appreciate these comments.

At first, Emily didn’t address Christina’s response directly, but she did write, “The Democrat women on here are MISERABLE d— I feel bad for yall so angry 😂 go get some sun.” Her next post made it very clear that Christina is likely among those “miserable” left-wing people she was referring to. On Threads, the MAGA influencer shared a screenshot of her own X post, which included a screenshot of a Daily Mail article titled, “Christina Ricci becomes embroiled in vicious feud with MAGA influencer: ‘I’m skinnier than you, you a–hole.”
Emily shared her own thoughts, writing, “celebrities supported the body positivity movement until they all took Ozempic and weight loss drugs now they’re online calling skinny women like myself fat cause I’m Republican.” That’s… definitely an interesting way of interpreting what happened.
After the post went viral, people found some of Christina’s other Threads posts.

And she definitely makes a habit of calling people out. A day before her interaction with the MAGA influencer, Christina wrote a similarly candid response to a Threads user who said, “Who here believes feminism is evil?” Of course, Christina does not believe this, and she felt compelled to let this person know. “Not me, a–hole,” she wrote back. “Fight for my own rights? Only something men would do, right? F— you and all of your friends.”
Another Threads user wrote, “The women are going to hate this…Yes, it is your responsibility to stay attractive for your husband. Go to the gym, eat clean and dress up. Putting in effort shouldn’t stop after marriage.” And in response, Christina said, “My husband loves when I wear my usual sweatpants attire and no make up. [Because] he cares about me and LOVES to see me happy and comfortable. I’m so sorry you don’t know men like this, sweetheart. ♥️”
She even wrote to Wendy’s, the fast food chain. Hilariously, she said, “I love you but I’m told [you’re] MAGA??? 😬😬😬 tell me it’s not so.”
