Even though Donald Trump surrounds himself with a team of people who eagerly applaud most of his moves and decisions as the president, he doesn’t always get the same treatment from the press. In an interview posted on X, a reporter seemingly refuses to give in to the gassing up of the president during his second term in office.
In the clip, Trump claims to one reporter that some people have called him “one of the greatest presidents ever.” Unfortunately, the reporter isn’t as quick to believe or agree with the sentiment right away. In fact, he straight up calls out Trump for the claim and has a pretty solid response that even Trump can’t really lash out at.

The clip on X is from a Punchbowl News interview with Jake Sherman. At this point in the interview, Sherman questioned Trump about Democrats trying to impeach him after the 2026 mid-term elections. In the clip, Trump mentions being revered as a great president.
“Well, a lot of people are saying I’m one of the greatest presidents ever,” Trump says.
Sherman interjects with, “They’re not saying that, though.”
When Sherman responds to him, it seems to be in reference to Democrats specifically, though that isn’t totally specified in the short clip. Still, people did applaud Sherman for being willing to call out Trump, however small the win may have been for those opposed to MAGA. At face value, it looks like Sherman is calling out Trump for a seemingly baseless claim, and for that, people are grateful.
Critics applauded the journalist for calling him out.

In the comments under the X post, Trump critics agreed that they don’t think anyone has really said he is one of the greatest presidents to ever be in office. To be fair, he can make that statement with little to no repercussions or pushback, since there is no way to officially deny it, as there is also no way to officially confirm the claim. But those who are very much anti-MAGA quickly called out what they believe to be a lie nonetheless.
“Nobody with an IQ above 70 is saying that,” one person commented on the X post.
Another wrote, “By ‘a lot of people,’ he means the sycophants he surrounds himself with.”
“Who is this ‘a lot of people’ he’s talking about because they’re not real,” a user added in the comments. “He is most certainly not one of the greatest presidents ever. More like one of the worst. Probably the worst.”
Someone also pointed out, “You know, Trump may actually believe that. Because in his little bubble he only surrounds himself with suck-ups and Yes Men.”
MAGA thinks the 2024 election results mean Trump has the support he believes he has.
On the other side of the coin, there are Trump supporters and members of the MAGA movement who think Trump is right in his assessment. Their evidence? The 2024 election that Trump won and Kamala Harris lost. Someone posted a photo of the election that Trump won with a map of the United States displaying the states that voted for him.
But, another person commented in reply, “Even if we pretend those stats are legitimate, they’re a year and a half out-of-date, and a lot has happened recently to make his approval ratings dip.”
Yes, technically speaking, that means, he had more widespread support over his opponent. But now, halfway through his second term? That’s what is being questioned, so someone needs to make sure MAGA understands that.
