Donald Trump’s Dismissive Response To A Bipartisan Housing Bill Is Going Viral Again

In June 2026, when Donald Trump was asked about a bipartisan housing bill, the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, he skirted around the topic and made it clear the bill wasn’t a priority for him. Now, a clip from that Oval office meeting with the press has gone viral again on X, and people have a lot to say about Trump’s attitude regarding things that apparently just don’t interest him.

The bill, per the House Committee on Financial Services, was meant to address the housing crisis in the United States and ensure that Americans are given a fair chance at owning homes. The “bipartisan” part of it all means that even Republicans agreed on the bill to some degree. Trump, on the other hand, finds it to be a total snooze fest.

Donald Trump’s comments about the housing bill didn’t surprise many.

In the clip, Trump calls the housing bill “so unimportant.” He then says that “just about everything is a big yawn” when it comes to the housing bill. The “yawn” is, apparently, giving low-income families affordable rent and making it possible for those who might not have been able to afford a mortgage to own homes.

“He only cares about enriching his family and the ballroom,” someone commented on the X post. “He never wanted to be president and carry out its duties, he just didn’t want to go down as a one term president.”

Another X user commented, “Whoever is in charge of making campaign ads for Dems has the easiest job in the world. Just show clips of Trump saying he doesn’t give a s–t about American citizens’ problems.”

Someone also wrote that Trump is done pretending to care, even a little. They wrote, “This is so bad it’s hard to believe it’s real. But it is. He’s been showing his true colors more and more…it’s like he doesn’t care enough to play his act anymore.”

“Translation: Trump hasn’t found a way for his family to make $ off the Housing Bill yet,” someone else added.

He refused to sign the housing bill.

Unsurprisingly, Trump pulled a not-so-silent protest and refused to sign the housing bill. But, because he also didn’t veto the bill and it passed Congress, it became a law. Federal housing agencies were then allowed to implement the changes to hopefully lower the cost of building houses and making them more affordable for potential homeowners.

Trump criticized the bill on Truth Social at the time and insulted both Democrats and Republicans. Congress was unable to pass his SAVE America Act, which would change voting registration guidelines. That explains why he was so public about his disdain for the bill that did pass with overwhelming support.

“The Elizabeth ‘Pocahontas’ Warren centric housing bill, which is of minor importance compared to lower interest rates, and even FISA, pales in comparison to passing THE SAVE AMERICA ACT,” he wrote at the time. “That is what Americans, both Dumocrats, Republicans, and everyone else, care about. Get the bad Republicans to approve it or, better yet, Terminate the Filibuster and approve it, AND EVERYTHING ELSE REPUBLICANS HAVE EVER DREAMED OF. The Dumocrats will do it in hour one, 100%. Republicans will feel very stupid if they don’t do it first. I’ll be watching with tears in my eyes!!! President DJT.”

In the clip from his Oval Office meeting, Trump name-dropped the SAVE America Act. He also continued to speak out about it in the face of the housing bill being passed without his signature.

Trump wrote on Truth Social at the time that he refused to sign it out of protest, as many had suspected. Unfortunately for him, the pouting didn’t work in his favor.
