Just two years ago, Donald Trump Jr. acted like the idea of his father getting involved in a war with Iran was absolutely ridiculous. And yet, here we are. An X post that Don Jr. penned just over two years ago has resurfaced, and considering what has happened during President Donald Trump’s second term, it’s actually embarrassing.
The post is from April 2024, when the now-president was on the campaign trail (and also dealing with his criminal hush-money trial). You might remember how the elder Donald campaigned on the promise of “no new wars.” Back in 2023, Vice President JD Vance even wrote an op-ed about how he decided to support the current president because he supposedly wouldn’t start any wars.
And Don Jr. hasn’t deleted the post that mentioned Iran specifically.
Remember when they said Trump would get us into a full-blown war with Iran?

Times like these should make us all realize how lucky we were to have Trump, his strength and his resolve.
On April 13, 2024, Don Jr. wrote, “Remember when they said Trump would get us into a full-blown war with Iran? Times like these should make us all realize how lucky we were to have Trump, his strength and his resolve.”
As of July 22, 2026, the post has 9.9 million views, and X users added some context via a community note now that some time has past since the post was first published. It reads, “Trump got us into a war with Iran.” Yikes.
People find it pretty ironic.

And they can’t stop commenting on it now that it has resurfaced. On July 20, journalist Aaron Rupar reposted it and wrote, “Update?”
Numerous people pointed out that the post hasn’t aged well at all. Some were actually surprised that Don Jr. didn’t think to delete it. “I wonder if he’s ever regretted posting this?” one person on X questioned.
“Pretty wild he didn’t delete that,” another person wrote.
As embarrassing as this is for the Trumps, it’s actually not the first time that something like this has happened. On multiple occasions, old posts from those in Trump’s circle have resurfaced and shown them essentially saying the opposite of what they’re saying now.
“Nothing they say ages well at all and it shows!” a critic commented on the resurfaced Don Jr. post. “They say one thing and do the other and you wonder why we don’t trust anything they say!”
People also noticed another strange detail in the post.
What's going on with this, Junior? https://t.co/Fsiy9Jec8F

Aside from the fact that critics are skeptical of the president’s “strength” and “resolve,” they’re also weirded out by the way Don Jr. speaks about his own father. “Times like these should make us all realize how lucky we were to have Trump” is a strange sentence coming from one of the president’s children (who also shares the same last name). Like, why is he calling his dad ‘Trump’?
“It’s even funnier that he refers to his dad by their last name,” a critic commented on the resurfaced post. Someone else wrote, “Him calling his own father by his last name is so bizarre. Then again, Pops did skip his wedding, didn’t he?”
Besides, the president seemingly referred to Don Jr. as “a person I’ve known for a long time,” so they clearly have an interesting relationship.
