What to Know
President Donald Trump’s niece Mary Trump believes a recent New York Times piece about Andrew Tate tells us a lot about what the president is like as a parent. In a recent video shared to her YouTube channel, Mary spoke about Trump’s ties to the manosphere and the lifting of the Tate brothers’ travel ban. She pointed to the New York Times investigation that found the Trump administration played a role in their release from Romania back in February 2025. That article also mentioned Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, who allegedly “admired Andrew [Tate], and spoke with him over Zoom last year.”
According to Mary, it should be no surprise that her uncle “is a terrible misogynist.” But she also argues that he’s a “disgraceful parent” as well — because why would he be OK with his son supporting Andrew Tate, a self-proclaimed misogynist accused of violent crimes against girls and women?
Andrew has been accused of rape, human trafficking, and other crimes.
He is under investigation in three countries, and was barred from leaving Romania for two years due to the investigation there. But in February 2025, the travel ban was suddenly lifted, and Andrew and his brother Tristan visited the United States. At the time, Trump was asked if he was involved in making this happen for the Tate brothers, but he acted like he knew nothing about it.
“Of course, when Donald was asked about the Tates’ release, he lied and pretended he knew absolutely nothing about it,” Mary said in her YouTube video on the topic. “Quick question: is there anything Donald knows anything about that goes on in his administration?”
Though Trump claimed to know nothing, his niece did not believe that. “Of course he knows,” she claimed. “He would have to know. That kind of thing would only happen if Donald sanctioned it.”
Besides, the president’s son reportedly admires Andrew.
This detail in the New York Times report made Trump’s response even less believable to Mary. “It’s also very difficult to pretend you don’t know about somebody when your son is a huge fan,” she continued. “Now imagine what kind of… disgraceful, despicable parent you would need to be in order to think it’s OK for your son to listen to and admire a monster like Andrew Tate.”
For some of Mary’s followers, it was their first time hearing that Barron allegedly admires Andrew. And while it’s horrifying, some of them were unfortunately not surprised. “Like father and son …” one of them commented.
