Queen Máxima’s White House Photo Moment With Trumps Has Internet Convinced

There might be a debate from MAGA supporters and those who can’t stand them about what Dutch Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander think of Donald Trump and Melania Trump, but sometimes, the proof is in the pudding. In this case, the pudding would be a video shared on X that shows what appears to be clear distaste from Queen Máxima at being photographed next to Trump.

Really, by that logic, the video also seems to show her hesitancy to stand next to Melania too. People clocked that on X and, while others came for them in different posts on the social media platform, some held their ground and insisted that you can see clear distaste for the president and first lady in the queen’s mannerisms.

The placement in the photo of the Dutch royals with the Trumps means everything.

In the video on X, Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander greet Trump and Melania. They share a few pleasantries, and then, they start to like up for a group photo. Except that’s when things get a little awkward. The Netherlands royals seem unsure of where they should stand. You can’t quite hear what anyone says, but maybe that’s also why people are talking about it.

Eventually, they settle on King Willem-Alexander next to Trump and Melania on Trump’s other side. Queen Máxima is as far from the presidential family as she can get, on the king’s other side. Because of their hesitancy to figure out where to stand, some believe the Dutch Royals, specifically Queen Máxima, weren’t wild about the photo to begin with.

“A very embarrassing scene,” the X post said, accompanied by the video. “Watch the moment when King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and his wife, Queen Máxima, refused to stand next to Melania Trump during their reception at the White House a short while ago! Is the reason Melania’s relationship with Epstein?”

People are questioning why they visited Trump in the first place.

In another post on X, people began to speculate on Queen Máxima not liking Trump or Melania.

Someone joked that she was thinking, “Oh lawd please don’t make me stand next to him — it smells sooo bad.”

Another pointed out, “Very awkward timing indeed, especially after Trump threatened to wipe out the Iranian civilisation. Dutch King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima must have spoken to British King Charles and Queen Camilla how to handle a visit to Trump as Royals.”

Of course, Queen Máxima hasn’t actually confirmed these suspicions, but people are talking regardless. And a lot of users on X think the queen was just not into this meeting and that she couldn’t hide it in the clip during the mini photoshoot.

There’s a history of people assuming Queen Máxima doesn’t care for Trump.

Maybe people are especially convinced that Queen Máxima doesn’t like Trump because of another incident. Or, rather, a would-be incident, between them. In July 2025, after she and Trump were photographed by each other at a NATO summit, people thought the facial expression caught on the queen’s face meant she was mocking Trump.

Later, she told the Dutch news outlet AD that this wasn’t the case at all, though some Trump critics had hoped it was, if only to celebrate a win for another country being against the Trump Administration.

“I said ‘thank you’ to someone who had helped,” she explained to the outlet. Instead, the moment of Queen Máxima next to Trump and speaking to someone off-camera made for suspicions that she had made fun or or mocked him without his knowledge. But she cleared it all up.

Still, tell that to people who are convinced she’s not a Trump fan.
