What to Know
Lots of people online have pointed out that Erika Kirk appears to be everywhere lately. But in spite of this, she did not appear at Turning Point USA’s alternative halftime show. After Bad Bunny was revealed to be the headliner for this year’s Super Bowl halftime show, TPUSA vowed to put together an alternative show for outraged conservatives. When the lineup was announced, it was immediately mocked by people who questioned whether Kid Rock was really the best artist they could find for it.
According to the New York Times, 6.1 million concurrent viewers tuned in for the “All-American Halftime Show,” which was streamed on YouTube at the time of Bad Bunny’s performance. President Donald Trump did not appear to watch it, and it was reportedly pre-taped. Although the show has been the subject of pretty intense mockery on social media, Erika took to X to celebrate it.
She called the performances “so incredible.”
Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett performed at the event, which also featured a tribute to Charlie Kirk. In her post on X, Erika said the event was about honoring her late husband. “The @TPUSA All-American Halftime Show was so incredible. Charlie would’ve absolutely loved it,” Erika wrote. “Thank you to the millions that tuned in. I’m so proud of our entire team, staff, and the artists who believed in the vision and mission.”
Tagging the artists who performed at the show, she also added, “It’s okay to love Jesus and your country. Ultimately, this is what it’s all about, making Heaven crowded.” She concluded the post with, “…I love you Charlie baby, this is all for you.”
But in the comments, people pointed out that she wasn‘t even there… and neither was the president. “Reports are that you weren’t there,” one person wrote. Someone else said, “I regret to inform you Trump did not tune in.”

People had some complaints.
While some people on social media have praised the alternative halftime show much like Erika did, a lot of the people who reacted to her post were not all that impressed. One critic called the show a “100% fail” and said they “wanted to love it” but actually “couldn’t stand it.”
People also had a lot of questions about Kid Rock’s supposedly “wholesome” lyrics. Though, to be fair, maybe that didn’t matter a ton, given that several people said they couldn’t understand him. Another critic said, “You couldn’t understand a word your performers said either… even Kid Rock couldn’t understand his own lyrics and just gave up on lip syncing them.”
