Quick-Thinking Fan Shields 4-Year-Old Boy From Hockey Puck In Cleveland

On Thursday, April 11, 2024, Asia Davis and her 4-year-old son Nasir attended a Cleveland Monsters’ hockey game. Nasir was acting like a typical preschool boy with lots of energy. Asia was impressed with the patience of the man sitting next to them.

Everyone was enjoying the game when all of the sudden a hockey puck came hurtling towards Nasir. The stranger didn’t hesitate to block the puck, preventing it from hitting Nasir. Asia was so thankful. Later that night she took to TikTok to track the stranger down so she could thank him again.

Her post went viral. It has been viewed over 4 million times. Internet sleuths were able to find Andrew Podolak, the man who saved Nasir from injury.

On April 13, 2024 Asia, Andrew, and Nasir were reunited. Nasir even got to drop the puck before the game. The trio then watched another hockey game together. This time the AHL's Cleveland Monsters faced the Laval Rocket. Asia made sure to hug Andrew and fully express her gratitude.

Asia has what she calls "PTSD" from her son’s near miss, but Nasir isn’t fazed by the experience. Asia knows Andrew is to thank for that. The puck that almost hit Nasir landed behind him. Some other kids picked it up and gave it to Nasir. He now falls asleep at night holding his prized possession.
