FIFA Crops Trump Out Of Spain’s World Cup Celebration Photo

After the photobomb heard around the world involving Donald Trump and the 2026 FIFA World Cup winning team from Spain, FIFA took the reins and straight up deleted Trump from the team photo posted on social media. That’s right. Trump might have popped into frame to be photographed with the team following its massive win, but when FIFA shared the photo to X (formerly Twitter), Trump was cropped out.

Call it scaling the photo down as necessary to post it on social media. Or, call it a total accident on FIFA’s part. But people believe the International Federation of Association Football intentionally cropped out Trump, partly because of his audacity to insert himself in the photo op after a team from a whole other country than the one he leads as president won the World Cup.

Donald Trump’s appearance in the picture was a total photobomb anyway.

Before the photo was taken and posted on social media, the fact that Trump was there at all, in front of the team that he had no part in whatsoever, was confusing. Trump’s haters couldn’t understand why he was at the end and had inserted himself in front of the team from Spain after the United States had long been out of the running for the win.

Maybe Trump felt the need to be in attendance because the World Cup took place in New Jersey. But did Trump really have to try and take the first photo with the team after its massive win? The short answer for many is that no, no he did not. And apparently, FIFA felt the same way after the photo was taken and edited.

FIFA posted Spain’s team photo following the World Cup win on X and you can just barely make out Trump’s shoulder and arm on the left side of the photo. Clearly, someone made a conscious effort to edit him out of the photo. Was it done as a slight to Trump? Maybe not, but the edit was clocked right away.

Someone commented on the X post with, “Finally a photo where the focus is on the actual champions. Spain deserved their moment. Well cropped.”

Another wrote, “It’s so obvious how cropped this photo was. I absolutely love it. He couldn’t even give the winning team, one he’s s–t talked a lot, their chance in the spotlight. I’m glad he’s noticing this and people booing him, people with his ego can’t stand knowing that.”

Spectators at the World Cup also booed Trump’s presence there.

When Trump showed up on the field at the World Cup Final, crowds in the audience took the opportunity to boo him mercilessly. The Washington Post shared a video on Instagram Reels, showing Trump getting booed by attendees in the audience as he tried to share in Spain’s glory after the massive win.

At the top of the video, you can clearly hear boos and hate from the crowd. Even as Trump waves at the stands, it’s clear that no one is thrilled to see him on the field as Spain is awarded the trophy for winning the World Cup. So for Trump to be intentionally cropped out of the team photo, it’s sort of the cherry on top for many.

In 2026, the United States co-hosted the World Cup for the first time since 1994. What might have otherwise been the start of a grand tradition might be something that goes in the other direction after civil rights groups admonished the U.S. for taking part in the series of games involving numerous countries despite Trump’s crackdown on immigration.

According to the American Immigration Council, FIFA President Gianni Infantino considered speaking with Trump ahead of the games to temporarily stop ICE raids across the country. Now, some soccer fans across the world are calling for the U.S. to be banned from hosting and even competing in the World Cup in the future.
