Sometimes when the going gets tough, we can allow ourselves to become a little jaded and cynical. Luckily, there are still good people in the world promoting generosity and kindness to help brighten our days when we least expect it.
Landen was a sweet 7-year-old boy living a happy life with his 70-year-old grandmother Wendelyn in Ansonia, Connecticut. Wendelyn had been taking care of Landen since he was 4 years old after his parents' tragic death.
Wendelyn did her best to raise Landen with what she had, but as a woman living her retirement trying to raise a young child on her own, she often didn’t have a lot of extra money to take him to the movies or out to nice restaurants.
Landen never complained about going without as he knew they were on a tight budget and he was just happy to be living with his caring grandma. One day, after he saw a beautiful new pair of sneakers that he really wanted in a TV commercial, he took it upon himself to start a lemonade and cookie stand to try to raise a little money.
According to a Facebook post that his grandmother shared, while Landen was selling lemonade, Officer Perez from the Ansonia Police Department came up to buy a refreshing beverage from the young boy.

Officer Perez asked Landen what he was selling lemonade for to which Landen replied that he needed new “blue sneakers for school.” The social media post shared that the officer then left Landen’s lemonade stand only to soon return with a blue pair of sneakers for the hardworking little boy.
