Crying Gen Zer Struggles To Find Job In NYC With ‘Stack’ Of Resumes: ‘Not What I Expected’

One Gen Z TikToker got real about the harsh realities of finding a job in New York City, and her video racked up more than 23 million views. Lohanny Santos, 26, from Brooklyn, vented to her followers about going door-to-door with her resume in hand in search of a job. "This is the most humbled I've ever felt in my life," she started in the video. "I'm literally holding my resume, a stack of them, so that I can go in person to places and say, 'Are you guys hiring?'" She continues to explain how embarrassing it is for her.

@lohannysant Thank you so so so so so much for all the love, support, and advice. Im overwhelmed by the love. Im on the way to apply to 10 more places today. Love you guys so much ♥️ gonna go take a deep breath and be productive. #nyc #unemployed #fyp ♬ original sound - Lohanny

She said that while she was applying for minimum wage jobs, most of them told her they weren't hiring. "This is not what I expected," she confessed. "I graduated college with two degrees, in communications and acting. I speak three languages." Lohanny then began to cry.

@lohannysant Replying to @Elyseelucia i grew a platform in a day. Im so so thankful. Some of you are confused bc you’re coming here and seeing the new numbers. Its all new to me! Im excited for this journey and am glad i put myself out there #nyc #unemployed ♬ original sound - Lohanny

"This sucks," she said, then noting how she really just wants to be a TikToker. "But I can't be delusional anymore, like I really need to make money so, I'm just gonna keep trying."
