Shakira’s Ex Gerard Piqué Shows Off New Girlfriend On Instagram 7 Months After Breakup

For those of us who have had Shakira’s latest single “BZRP Music Sessions #53” on repeat for the last two weeks, things just got really … awkward. Shakira’s ex, Gerard Piqué, just debuted his new girlfriend on Instagram.

If you haven’t heard the song yet, open up a new tab, hit play, and buckle in.

Shakira, 45, and Gerard, 35, originally met on the set of her music video for "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" and confirmed their relationship officially in March 2011. They share two sons: Milan, 10, and Sasha, 7.

They announced their breakup in a joint statement in June 2022.

"We regret to confirm that we are separating," the pair said. "We ask for privacy at this moment for the well-being of our children, who are our maximum priority. Thank you in advance for your understanding and respect."

While the statement seems straightforward enough, the real tea started to spill this month, when Shakira released a song that threw serious shade at her ex.

"Sorry baby, I should have thrown you out a while ago," she sings in the song. "I'm too good for you, and that's why you're with someone just like you."

She even goes on to mention the former couple’s financial woes. "You left me my mother-in-law as my neighbor / Media outlets at my door and in debt with the government."

Shakira has an ongoing tax fraud trial in Spain.

The singer’s ex, a former soccer player, is rumored to have been in a relationship with his new girlfriend, Clara Chia Martí, 23, since August.

According to Harper's Bazaar, Martí is a PR student who worked for Piqué’s event production company, Kosmos.

Shakira’s catchy new song includes lyrics like "I'm worth two 22-year-olds," and, "I wish you the best with my supposed replacement, you swapped a Ferrari for a Twingo … you swapped a Rolex for a Casio."

The new song broke a YouTube record, reaching more than 72 million views in 24 hours.

"I wouldn't go back to you, even if you cried or begged me," the artist sings in another line of the song. "I was out of your league and that's why you are with someone like you."
