What to Know
Gordon Ramsay is known for being harsh and temperamental on TV, so when a content creator claimed that she spotted a dog using a pee pad inside one of his restaurants, people were shocked by how lax he seemed in real life. Influencer Gizzelle Cade recently dined at a Gordon Ramsay Street Pizza restaurant in London and her experience definitely did not live up to her expectations.
Like many others familiar with the celebrity chef, Gizzelle expected him to have very high standards for his own restaurants. And yet, after visiting the establishment, she’s urging others to stay away from it.
In a video shared via TikTok, Gizzelle complained about a dog inside the restaurant.
@gizzellecade Is this how London restaurants do dining??‼️@Gordon Ramsay your staff needs health inspector classes On what’s acceptable #london #londonrestaurant #gordonramsay #fyp #restaurant ♬ original sound – Gizzelle Cade
Over the video, she wrote, “Dear GORDON RAMSAY… This restaurant is HELL’s Kitchen.” Ouch. “I want to tell you guys: never come eat here,” she said in her video. “I’m sitting at this restaurant, enjoying a beautiful evening with my husband and my newborn baby, and I look up, and I see some woman with her dog on a wee-wee pad taking a p— and a s—.”
Gizzelle said she complained to someone working at the restaurant, but that employee allegedly did nothing. According to her, the manager was also present and did not intervene.
Gordon’s response disappointed her (and other people).
@gizzellecade 👉🏾Did y’all see it in real time when it was posted? What were your thoughts? 👀 I saw the alleged post/delete video, along with the alleged comments about selling doggy diapers. And honestly? It was disappointing. At the end of the day, I shared my real experience as both a customer and a mom. I also shared the restaurant’s own publicly stated policy. As a mother, situations involving hygiene in spaces serving food naturally hit differently for me. I care about hygiene, consistency, and customer care. For me personally, the contradiction between the policy, the brand, and what I experienced is what stood out the most. I’m going to continue sticking to my experience and what was publicly stated. ‼️The restaurant’s policy said what it said… and my experience was what it was. Ending this chapter. 🚫 Disclaimer: Any references to an alleged post/delete are based on publicly circulating social media content and my personal interpretation of it. #gordonramsay #london #momtok #fyp #dog ♬ original sound – Gizzelle Cade
After Gizzelle shared her complaints online, Gordon reportedly responded with a since-deleted video in which he joked about a dog in a diaper visiting his Street Pizza restaurant. In the caption, he jokingly said he should consider selling diapers for dogs. People definitely expected a different response from him. Before he reacted, people left comments on Gizzelle’s video like, ‘Gordon is about to go OFF in his response video,” “I just know Gordon Ramsay doesnt know about this,” and “I refuse to believe Gordon is okay with this.” Welp.
Gizzelle reacted to Gordon’s response in her own video. She called it “beyond appalling” and said she would never visit any of his restaurants ever again after having this experience and seeing the way he responded to it. In her comments, some people said they were canceling their reservations and/or unfollowing Gordon because of this. “what a mess,” one person wrote. “i thought gordon ramsay had standards.”
“His response is so disrespectful,” someone else wrote. “Like WOW.”
TMZ reported on the controversy.
@gizzellecade 👉🏾has @TMZ always reported FAKE news with no journalism ethics ?? Or did someone from Gordon Ramsay’s camp…👀 This FAKE “eyewitness” that saw these FAKE events⚠️ we never asked to move, we asked to leave‼️..and did #gordonramsay #hellskitchen #restaurant #london #popculture ♬ original sound – Gizzelle Cade
In their report, the tabloid claimed that witnesses said the dogs did not actually defecate or urinate inside the restaurant. Instead, the dog was allegedly just sitting on the pad. Gizzelle has taken issue with TMZ’s report, though.
According to her, so many details within the article were simply not true. “Two women walked in with their dogs in a bassinet baby stroller,” she said. “The dog was licking the table. From the moment they walked in, it had not been five minutes before she put the wee-wee pad on the floor and started to encourage the dog to relieve himself.”
Gizzelle said she confronted the woman, asking what was going on. But in response, the woman allegedly compared her dog to Gizzelle’s newborn baby. “She said, repeatedly, ‘Your baby s—s and p—-es all the time… what’s the difference between my puppy?”
Tons of people agreed with Gizzelle’s take—that a dog “using the bathroom” inside a restaurant seemed like a health code violation. One person commented, “I don’t change my babies diapers next to the table sooo there’s that lol.”
Dogs are technically allowed at the restaurant, but only outside.
@gizzellecade Is this normal in London? Since when did dog friendly mean no hygiene at a restaurant ?‼️ Not only did we notify management & leave but manager charged us full bill with 15% service charge… The two ladies with dogs continued to dine. Husband, baby, and myself left… @Gordon Ramsay @Gordon Ramsay Restaurants #gordonramsay #london #pizza #uklife #londonrestaurants ♬ original sound – Gizzelle Cade
And according to Gizzelle, no one ever asked the woman to take her dog outside. Even a lot of animal lovers were disgusted by what she described. “Personally I don’t care if there’s a dog present,” one person wrote (though many others argued that dogs should not be inside restaurants, period). “But as soon as you pull out a puppy pad and I have to sit there and watch it go to the bathroom, we have a f—ing problem.”
