Grandma Helen from Bloomfield, Iowa, had become an internet sensation after reciting a raunchy Carnation milk jingle from her youth on TikTok. The clever rhyme, which garnered attention on social media, caught the eye of Nestle, the parent company of Carnation. Now, 96-year-old Grandma Helen is not only celebrated for her viral jingle but has also become a partner with the brand, receiving $5,000 in appreciation, along with gifts and a heartwarming gesture.
In the catchy and unconventional jingle that resurfaced thanks to Grandma Helen, she recites, “Carnation milk, the best in the land/ comes in a tin with a red and white band/ No t— to pull, no hay to pitch/ just punch two holes in the son of a b—-.” The humorous and unexpected lyrics sparked laughter and admiration across social media platforms.
In an exclusive interview with Inside Edition Digital’s Andrew Swindall, Grandma Helen shared her story behind the jingle. Recalling hearing it for the first time at the age of 12, she expressed her surprise and amusement at the clever wordplay. Despite being hesitant to repeat the jingle due to its colorful language, she eventually shared it with her family, eliciting shocked reactions from her daughters.
The attention-grabbing jingle also caught the interest of Carnation Brand Manager Megan, who revealed that it was a real contest submission received in the 1940s. Although not selected for the company's advertising campaign at the time, Carnation appreciated the creativity and humor behind it. As a token of its gratitude, Carnation showered Grandma Helen with flowers, Carnation swag, and a holiday dinner. They also flew in some of her family members to visit during the holidays.
Furthermore, Carnation promised Grandma Helen $5,000, which she decided to put toward a new sidewalk. Expressing her gratitude for the unexpected sponsorship and gifts, Grandma Helen emphasized how the new sidewalk would greatly improve her mobility and daily life, allowing her to walk to places like the pharmacy and beauty salon without any hindrances.
