Gwyneth Paltrow is mom to two and stepmom to two. She shares two children with her first husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. Her second and current husband Brad Falchuk shares two kids with ex-wife television producer Suzanne Bukinik.
Gwyneth recently opened up about the traits Apple and Moses inherited from her. She got the question in Vogue's 73 Questions series. Gwyneth has also admitted that being a stepmom was hard at first, but now she tries to just think of Brody and Isabella as her own.
Moses is 17 years old and Apple is 19. As a parent, you only want to pass down all the good parts of yourself. "I think Moses got his deliberation from me and Apple, her sense of humor," Gwyneth mused.
In August 2023, Gwyneth opened up about being a stepmom in an Instagram Q&A. Brody is 17 and Isabella is 19, the same ages as Gwyneth’s kids. "I did find it really hard at first," she confessed.
"You know, there’s no book on this; nobody tells us what to do,” Gwyneth went on to explain. “And in fact, all of the existing media around what a stepmother is casts us in this evil, villainous light. So it’s kind of like trying to avoid land mines. And then you’re going into a family with dynamics. And there’s all kinds of fear around loss and what does this person mean?"

Thankfully, everything smoothed out over time. “For myself, the minute I decided, and fully embodied the idea that my stepkids were my kids and I love them just as much and I gave them the same rules and boundaries, and just kind of wholeheartedly went for it, then the easier the whole thing got. And now it’s pretty great,” Gwyneth said.
