When Harry Potter actress Jessie Cave was dealing with financial challenges, she took an unconventional approach and started making hair-related content for OnlyFans. It seems this has worked out well for her, as she recently revealed that she’s made more money from OnlyFans in the past year than she’s made throughout her whole acting career.
Jessie, 39, portrayed Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter films. She’s also a mom of four. When she joined the platform known for adult content in March 2025, she had reached “a point of complete desperation,” she told The Times during a recent interview. She planned on spending a bit of time on the platform to earn some extra money. But now, she’s been on it for over a year.
She said joining OnlyFans actually “saved” her family.
It sounds like she considered other options before deciding to create content for OnlyFans. But none of them really made sense for her. “I couldn’t go and, say, work in a supermarket because I can’t afford the childcare, and also I don’t want people shouting Harry Potter spells at me as I work at Tesco,” she told The Times. “I could retrain but I can’t afford to do a degree. It was a point of complete desperation.”
The content Jessie makes is focused on hair and is not sexually explicit or involving nudity. Still, she told the publication that she managed to make £15,000, or about $20,000, in one day. This obviously exceeded her expectations, as she thought she’d “make five grand, be on it for a few months and it would buy (her) time to work out what we’re going to do.”
Now, more than a year and a half later, she revealed that “it’s genuinely saved our lives. She added, “I’ve earned more, easily, than my entire acting career within one year.”
After six months using the platform, she called it “the most empowering thing I’ve done in my life.”
In a September 2025 Instagram post, she wrote about how “grateful” she was for her success on the platform. However, she’s still worried about what the future holds, especially because her content isn’t sexually explicit.
She asserted during the recent interview that she’s “not going naked,” so she worries her time on the platform is almost up. “I don’t know how long I can last if I don’t start giving more,” she told The Times. “The bottom line is I can’t afford to stop and I do enjoy a lot of it. There’s a lot that I don’t enjoy, too.”
Previously, she revealed that she was no longer getting invited to conventions due to her OnlyFans content.
She found this interesting because for one, her content isn’t sexually explicit. But also, a lot of actors do appear in sexually explicit scenes in movies and TV shows, and they’re still invited to these kinds of events.
“I found out that I didn’t get booked for a Harry Potter convention recently, as I’m now doing OnlyFans,” she wrote last year. “They explained it was because it’s a ‘family show and OnlyFans is affiliated with porn.'”
She added, “This was baffling to me as some actors who do conventions (most actors, actually) have done TV and films in which they’ve done sex scenes and nudity. I’m just playing with my hair (on OnlyFans)!”
For now, it seems like Jessie is doing just fine without the Harry Potter conventions. Even at the time, she admitted that she was “not upset about the prospect of no more Harry Potter conventions.” You win some, you lose some.
