Just over a month after Hayden Panettiere’s unexpected death, her ex-fiancé, Wladimir Klitschko, has taken legal action related to her estate and believes it to be “urgent.” While news like this often gives people pause, the fact that is doing this on behalf of their 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, is something that many fans find reassuring.
Wladimir filed a petition on behalf of Kaya, who is the sole heir of Hayden’s estate, on September 24. He is seeking temporary guardianship of her estate, as he is concerned about what might happen to some of Hayden’s belongings.
He alleged that someone previously gained access to Hayden’s property.
In his petition, he noted that he believes the request to be “urgent and essential” because “there is a high probability that property belonging to Hayden’s Estate may be lost, damaged, or dissipated before a duly appointed personal representative can be in place to protect it,” per People.
He noted that this would “directly and adversely” affect their daughter. In the filing, he also expressed concerns about who might have access to Hayden’s belongings. He suggested that this appeared to be an issue prior to her death as well. According to the filing, there was allegedly “a documented concern that an individual had gained unauthorized access to Hayden’s property” before she died. Now, Wladimir is worried that something similar could happen again.
“Notwithstanding the foregoing, it is expected that the individual will continue to try and misappropriate property belonging to Hayden’s Estate,” he alleged.
He specifically mentioned Hayden’s emails and jewelry.
The filing noted that he is “informed and believes that non-family members previously connected to Hayden have accessed and destroyed Hayden’s emails.” The petition also mentioned some of her personal items, such as jewelry that “have disappeared or remain unaccounted for.”
This comes after multiple outlets reported that Hayden’s parents, Lesley Vogel and Skip Panettiere, were fighting over the “stud type earrings” she was wearing when she died.
Hayden and Wladimir welcomed their daughter in 2014.
In 2018, Hayden decided to give full custody of Kaya to Wladimir. She described it as “the most heartbreaking” decision she ever made, but she believed it to be the right choice for her daughter. In her memoir, she referred to Kaya as “the greatest gift of (her) life.” She also praised her ex-fiancé, writing, “Wlad, you are a wonderful human being and an amazing father to Kaya.”
And fans believe and hope that that is exactly why he has filed the petition seeking guardianship of Hayden’s estate on behalf of Kaya. “I feel like this guy has been pretty decent from the start – He cares about his child, this isn’t a fame/money situation for him and he’s been really decent about Hayden’s struggles too,” one fan wrote on Reddit.
Someone else said, “I would assume he wants his daughter to have the pick of her items and what she wants and he’s worried something she wants might be pawned by one of the many vultures circling.”
To many of Hayden’s fans, her ex-fiancé’s petition appears to be about their daughter, not about money. “He is far richer than she was….” someone pointed out. “This I actually do believe is for their daughter, he hasn’t shown he is anything but a good father…. Not that I’ve seen anyway… I could be wrong.”
Another person wrote, “Hopefully he will do the right thing for their daughter. It’s all so sad and depressing.”
