Authorities in Hong Kong have accused the ex-husband of model and influencer Abby Choi as well as members of his family of brutally killing the 28-year-old and dismembering her body.
Choi was last seen in Hong Kong on February 21, 2023. Police entered a rental unit on February 24, 2023, and found parts of Choi's body in the refrigerator.
The superintendent of the police department, Alan Chung, explained at the time, "The body parts that we found were inside the refrigerator — there were two legs that belonged to the female."
Chung continued, "We are still looking for the head. There are also other body parts that are missing, for example, the torso area, the hands, so we believe the suspect has already disposed of the body parts already."
Police found other body parts that were identified as Choi's the next day. The body parts included a skull, which had a hole in it that they believe was caused after it was hit with a heavy object.
Choi and her ex-husband, Alex Kwong, were reportedly fighting over money. He, his brother, and both of his parents have all been charged in Choi's murder. His mother has also been charged with perverting the course of justice.
All four members of the family are in custody without the option of bail.
Choi and her ex-husband have two children together, who are currently living with her mother.
Choi had gained widespread attention as a model and online influencer and most recently was on the cover of the magazine L'Officiel Monaco. She had commented on Instagram that she was "grateful for this recognition and the continued support along the way."
