Every family is different when it comes to their boundaries and level of comfort surrounding different topics. However, there are some topics that a lot of people feel uncomfortable discussing with their parents, and certain details they would rather not know. Meanwhile, Howie Mandel seems pretty comfortable talking to his daughter about topics that many people would consider off-limits, or at the very least, extremely uncomfortable.
On a recent episode of the Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast, he started an awkward conversation about handjobs. To make it even worse, he talked about his own personal experience in front of his daughter.
While Howie, 70, doesn’t seem to see anything wrong with talking about this sexual act in front of his daughter Jackie Shultz, 42, she definitely seemed to have an issue with it.
Howie seemed to be joking, but it still felt super uncomfortable.
He was in conversation with Jackie and influencer Camilla Araujo when he made the inappropriate comments. “The truth is — I got so embarrassed the last time — I have this lady that gives me tuggies,” Howie said on the podcast. “I pay like $25, and I get handjobs, right?”
Understandably, Jackie did not seem particularly interested in hearing about this—even if he was joking. But Howie continued, “But then at the end of one I said…”
Jackie interrupted to ask Camilla whether she ever has conversations like this one with her dad. Which is a fair question. And Camilla acted pretty interested in answering it and dissecting this topic in more detail, but Howie clearly wasn’t done with his handjob story.
He interjected to talk about his massage/handjob experience, and proceeded to make things worse.
“I asked her for a massage after she finished (the handjob),” he continued. “She looked at me like, ‘Get the f–k out of here.'”
“Oh, so you don’t even get like a rubdown?” Camilla questioned in response. Howie claimed that the person he goes to is just for handjobs, but he also wants a “happy ending:” a massage after the handjob.
Obviously, Jackie was still present as this whole interaction took place. Camilla pointed out that this kind of situation “usually starts with a massage, and that’s why it’s called a happy ending.” But Howie offered a different interpretation of the term: “Don’t you think it would be happy if she just loosened my shoulders?”
This made his daughter pretty uncomfortable.
Jackie seemed to know that her dad was joking, but she wasn’t amused. When she was asked to share her thoughts of the topic, she instead told her dad that she doesn’t appreciate when he talks about these kinds of things in front of her.
“I don’t have any thoughts on this,” she said. “I’m always so uncomfortable when you make these jokes. This is not like a father-daughter conversation usually, right?”
Turning to Camilla, Jackie asked, “Would you have these conversations with your dad?”
Camilla said she didn’t want them to “drag” her “into this,” and Howie accused Camilla of bringing “tuggies” into the conversation. However, there’s arguably a difference between mentioning “tuggies” and talking about your firsthand experience.
“You’re the one who admitted to getting tuggies,” Camilla shot back. Later, the trio started discussing whether going to a massage parlor for a “happy ending” counts as cheating and Howie told his daughter that she could call her mom and ask. Howie has been married to his wife (who, yes, is Jackie’s mom) for 46 years now.
