This mind-boggling double trouble situation seems like it could be the sequel to the Parent Trap but instead it is a true story. One pair of identical twins met and fell in love with another pair of identical twins. When both couples had babies, their children were not only cousins but biological siblings.
Venessa, Kerissa, Jacob, and Lucas Sealby shared their intriguing family makeup with Today. It all began in 2020 when one of Venessa’s personal training clients wanted to set her and Kerissa up. Venessa was skeptical of it at first because she never wanted to date a twin. These days, she is so glad she gave it a shot.
“We didn’t have any interest in dating twins,” Venessa recalled. “The idea kind of creeped us out, like no, that’s weird. And physically we had completely different types.”
Thankfully, her client was persistent. They explained why Venessa and Kerissa should give it a chance. “She was like, ‘You and Kerissa ran track at University of Oregon, they ran track at Washington State, and I think you’d be a perfect match,” Venessa said.

Venessa finally allowed her client to give Lucas her number. She felt like Venessa and Lucas would be a good fit because they were the more extroverted twins. Lucas texted Venessa and invited her and Kerissa over to his and Jacob’s apartment in Medford, Oregon.
Venessa’s client nailed it. Venessa was attracted to Lucas. She joked he was "definitely taller and more handsome than this Facebook picture!" After their first meeting she was certain she had met the love of her life.
“As soon as we got in the car, I looked at Kerissa and said, ‘I’m calling mom, because I’m marrying that man,’” Venessa recalled.
Perhaps because of their more introverted personalities, it took Kerissa and Jacob a couple more days to reach the same conclusion. “Jacob and I had a one-on-one date and I was like, 'OK. This is actually happening,'” Kerissa explained. “The whole thing seemed so crazy.”
Venessa and Lucas were married in October 2022. Kerissa and Jacob followed in June 2023. A double wedding was never on the table.
These days, the couples are neighbors in Oregon. “We live two steps away from each other,” Kerissa explained. “We’re constantly running back and forth to each others houses. I’m at Venessa’s probably 10 times a day.”
Both couples are proud parents. Venessa and Lucas share a 5-month-old daughter named Adrian. Kerissa and Jacob have a 19-month old named Sophie. Adrian and Sophie are both cousins and quaternary twins or genetic siblings.
Dr. John Pappas, director of pediatric clinic genetics at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone, breaks this down to help explain. “They share DNA in the same way siblings share DNA,” he stated.
Dr. Robert Green, a medical geneticist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, expands upon this. “Even though they have different parents, they’re genetically full siblings,” he explained.
Being in a relationship with another twin has turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to the couples. “Before we met Lucas and Jacob, guys didn’t understand why we needed to spend so much time together. They’d get upset if I was like, ‘I want to go to dinner with Venessa, just her and me,’” Kerissa explained. “Jacob’s past girlfriends would get mad at him for always wanting to be with Lucas.” The twins just understand each other on a deeper level. They can’t wait to continue to grow their families together and hope to get pregnant with baby No. 2 around the same time.
