What to Know
Ivanka Trump recently took to social media to share that she had a “magical night,” but people weren’t all that happy for her. On April 28, during King Charles and Queen Camilla’s state visit to the United States, Ivanka attended the White House State Dinner in an elegant floor-length gown.
When she shared several photos from that night on social media, some of her followers told her outfit was stunning and that she looked like royalty herself. However, tons of critics also reacted to the post and couldn’t get over the fact that Ivanka was boasting about her lavish night as ordinary Americans around the country struggle to afford the essentials.

But based on how they reacted to her post, it seems like a lot of people really couldn’t care less. To them, Ivanka’s caption (Behind the scenes 📸’s of a magical night ! 🇺🇸🇬🇧) might as well have said, “Let them eat cake.”
Ivanka shared several photos of her gown taken at different angles. But, in response, one critic shared a photo of the current price of gas at a Speedway gas station and sarcastically wrote, “It’s magical for us too…”
Many other critics expressed similar concerns in response to Ivanka’s post. “So sad to see her live in luxury while the common people are struggling,” someone else noted. Another person addressed Ivanka directly, writing, “How does it feel to look this glamorous while you and your family are devastating the citizens of America? We cannot afford healthy food, nice clothes, hair salon or even a nice apartment with how much money is being transferred to the elites, especially your family!!!”
People actually told her they don’t care about her magical night.
Perhaps she should’ve kept the magic to herself because people did not seem receptive to it and felt that posting publicly about it came across as super out of touch. “You elite scumbags have no idea how the rest of the world is struggling and being crushed because of the decisions of the privileged few,” another critic responded. “Enjoy your magical night I guess.”
Several critics mentioned forgoing healthcare just to afford food and struggling to keep up with rent payments. So, Ivanka’s post about her “magical night” definitely felt like… a choice, almost like she was rubbing it in. Someone else said, “It’s vulgar to flaunt your privilege when your demented dad’s policies are bringing economic hardship to real people.” And another commenter added, “The American people are struggling to make ends meet economically and this is what you and your grifting tone deaf family post?”
“The least you could do is read the room,” one commenter argued. “People are starving; Your daddy’s bombing children; Your husband is grifting; The respect of America is dwindling. And you want us to see how you live behind the scenes?”
Still, some people compared her to a princess.
And while most of them meant it as a compliment, a few actually meant it as an insult. “We’re out here struggling to live while y’all cosplay royalty and then shove it in our faces,” one person commented. The “cosplaying royalty” accusation comes after the White House once again likened President Donald Trump to a king in a social media post.
Amid King Charles and Queen Camilla’s state visit, the White House’s official accounts shared a photo of King Charles and Trump and captioned it with, “TWO KINGS.”
