Boy Spends Last $3 To Pay Woman’s Bus Fare, Next Day She Shows Up At School To Thank Him

Twelve-year-old Jake was in a rush to get to school one morning and almost missed the bus. Luckily, he made it to his stop on time and with just $6 in his pocket to get him through the school day.

The next stop picked up a 56-year-old woman named Crystal, who was wearing unlaundered clothing and appeared to be unkempt, which deterred some of the other passengers from even looking her way.

When one of the transportation employees came up to the new passengers on the bus to collect their fare, Crystal suddenly looked rather fidgety and began searching in her bag for change.

When the employee came back around and Crystal told him that she would have to get off at the next stop because she didn’t have any money to pay for her ticket, he did not respond in a hospitable manner and practically called attention to the situation by telling her that this was not some free ride for beggars.

Jake had played witness to the entire interaction that Crystal was having with the transportation employee and was not happy with his unkind nature. He suddenly remembered that he still had $3 in his pocket after he'd paid his own fare. He decided to step in and swiftly offer the employee the $3 for her bus fare.

After this act of kindness, Crystal thanked Jake profusely, and he told her that he just thought of his own grandmother and what he would do if it was her in this situation. The two pleasantly chatted before Jake had to get off and head to school.

When they said goodbye, Crystal knew that she would pay Jake back and vowed to see him soon.
