It looks like JD Vance is forever going to be linked to Charlie Kirk and his widow Erika Kirk, and not because he and Erika are having a full-blown affair. Though if you ask the internet, they might say that the latter is absolutely the case. Now, though, people believe that Vance could honor the late Turning Point USA CEO by naming his fourth child after him.
Yes, really. That’s what some believe Vance will do, especially after the work he has put in with the far right conservative organization. Even if Vance didn’t confirm that he and wife Usha Vance plan to honor Charlie in that way, some people have theorized that the Kirk family has a significant role in how Vance and the Second Lady came to have a fourth child.
JD Vance was asked if he would name his fourth baby Charlie.

Vance appeared on The Megyn Kelly Show and spoke about how, in a way, Erika impacted his and Usha’s decision to have another child. A clip from the episode was shared on X (formerly Twitter), and in it, Megyn Kelly mentions how she “wouldn’t be surprised” if his fourth child has a name from the Kirk family as either a first or middle name in some way.
Although Vance doesn’t say outright that he plans to name his fourth child after Charlie, or even Erika, he also doesn’t deny that it’s a possibility. And now, people think it could actually happen. Charlie was not part of the Trump Administration. He also wasn’t an elected politician. But, after his death, Charlie was forever linked to Donald Trump and his inner circle.
“I don’t [know] about anyone else but that sounds so private and I did not need to know this,” one person wrote on X. “Icky.”
“I really hope JD and Usha take the name Charlie for their new baby, so Candace can’t use it,” another commented.
Another X user added, “Charles or Charlotte, Charlie works for either…” Clearly, some people are all in when it comes to the possibility of Vance naming his kid after Charlie.
He has spoken about conceiving after Charlie Kirk’s death.
In the same interview with Megyn, Vance said that when Charlie died, Erika confided in him that she wished she and Charlie had another child when he was alive. Is that what actually inspired Usha and Vance to have another kid? He doesn’t exactly confirm as much in the clip from the interview, but he does say that “two months later,” he and Usha found out they were expecting their fourth child.
“That just hit me like a ton of bricks,” Vance says in the clip, of Erika telling him she wished that she and Charlie had more kids. “And a couple months later, Usha became pregnant with baby number four.”
As for Vance’s whole story? It didn’t sit well with some people.
“I can’t wrap my mind around how INSANE a woman has to be to say, hours after her husband’s death, that she wished they’d had another baby. Absolutely insane,” a user commented on the X post. “And for THAT to give Vance the ‘inspiration’ to go get his wife pregnant is creepy as hell.”

This link between Erika and Vance isn’t too surprising and it really isn’t anything new. At a Turning Point USA event in Mississippi in November 2025, Erika spoke highly of Vance on-stage. She even openly compared him to Charlie, who had died just a few months before the event took place.
“No one will ever replace my husband,” Erika said at the time. “But I do see some similarities of my husband in JD, in Vice President JD Vance. I do. And that’s why I am so blessed to be able to introduce him tonight.”
