JD Vance Says MAGA Isn’t The Same Without Elon Musk & Donald Trump’s Bromance

The relationship between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk seemed to come to an end in June 2025, and according to Vice President JD Vance, it’s still “complicated.” During an interview with far-right publication The Gateway Pundit, Vance suggested that he hopes Trump and Musk will be able to make amends in spite of the recent “drama.”

At the same time, he implied that repairing the rocky relationship might take a bit of time and effort, and also made a joke about Musk not answering his calls. “I don’t know that he would take my call right now,” Vance said, laughing. He later clarified that he was kidding, but admitted that there’s been a lot of “drama around (Musk) and the White House over the last couple of months.”

Based on his comments, he couldn’t seem to wrap his head around what Musk was thinking when he chose to argue with Trump. “My argument to Elon is like, you’re not going to be on the left … even if you wanted to be — and he doesn’t — they’re not going to have you back, that ship has sailed,” Vance told the publication. “I really think it’s a mistake for him to try to break from the president.”

Vance is still hoping that Musk and Trump will find a way back to each other, especially because Musk “was a critical part of the team last election.” He added that he hopes the tension “cools down” and things go “back to normal.”

“He did help us a lot in the election,” Vance continued.” The president even says … Elon was a very critical part of the team last election. So, my hope is, by the midterms, things are kind of back to normal.”

Amid his heated conflict with Trump, Musk alleged that Trump refused to release the Epstein files because he was listed in the documents. “Time to drop the really big bomb: [Donald Trump] is in the Epstein files,” Musk wrote in a post that has since been deleted. “That is the real reason they have not been made public.” Though he deleted that initial post, he has continued to criticize the Trump administration’s handling of the Epstein case.
