Vice President JD Vance just keeps saying things that make people think he’s insulting his own boss (or even himself). Tackling fraud appears to be Vance’s thing. He regularly speaks about it, and is now leading the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud. Each time he talks about the topic, though, there are a decent number of people who mock him, as evidenced by the reactions to his recent social media posts.
Vance recently hosted a fraud task force meeting with Congressional leaders.
Photos from the meeting were shared via Vance’s Facebook account with the caption, “Vice President and the White House Task Force host a roundtable meeting with members of Congress.”
People in the comments were clearly not impressed by this. “Apt name,” someone commented on the post. “White House Fraud task force.”
Other critics questioned whether this meeting was actually necessary. “No need for discussion, just hold up a mirror,” another person wrote. One commenter added, “The call is coming from inside the (White) house.”
Some commenters found the whole thing so “hilarious” that they questioned whether it was actually a joke. “Are they all investigating themselves?” someone else questioned.
The vice president also posted about fraud on Instagram.
On August 3, he shared a screenshot of a Breitbart headline that read, “Exclusive: White House Fraud Task Force Helps FBI Catch 4 Overseas Fugitives.” Vance captioned the post with, “Fraudsters will be brought to justice 🇺🇸”
Since Vance mentioned “fraudsters,” tons of people mentioned President Donald Trump and his family in the comments.
“Why don’t you start with your boss?” one person questioned. Someone else commented, “What about the criminals in the White House? 💀”
“Yup! The ORANGE FAMILY!” another commenter wrote. People also joked that tracking down “fraudsters” shouldn’t be too hard for Vance, given his proximity to them. “Not difficult to do when they’re all in one room,” a fourth critic added. “I would suggest to find more, just check the Oval Office.”
People have made similar comments in response to Vance’s speeches about fraud.

In May, Vance tried to warn people that there’s “fraud in the federal government,” and that didn’t go over so well either. People’s minds immediately went to the Trump administration, which is clearly not what Vance was going for.
“Because there’s a lot of fraud in the federal government,” Vance said at the time. “…It’s unbelievable how much you have been fleeced by your own government, over the past 15, 20, 30 years. Nobody was looking at this. Nobody was asking difficult questions, like, for example, ‘Are dead people getting food stamps?'”
On social media, people focused more on the It’s unbelievable how much you have been fleeced by your own government, and they sort of agreed with him, in a way.
“He would be right,” someone wrote in response. “But he really should stop talking about Trump this way????”
According to another critic, Vance did get “one thing right” during his speech, even if it was unintentional: “Americans are absolutely getting fleeced by Trump and the administration.”
