During a recent podcast appearance, Vice President JD Vance was asked to share his thoughts on what voters should keep in mind leading up to the midterm elections. A lot of people on social media are not finding his message particularly persuasive and are actually mocking him because he said: “Give us another chance.”
To Trump administration critics, the pitch sounded pretty… desperate. And almost like Vance was admitting that things aren’t looking too great at the moment.

Vance had a pretty lengthy response when venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya asked him about midterms on the All-In podcast. A short snippet has gotten the most attention online. In a clip circulating on social media, Vance says, “Give us another chance. Or give us another couple years to continue to work on the amazing things we’ve been doing for the past two years.”
In response, many commenters pointed out that this does not sound like something you would say if things were going well for you.
One critic described it as “Vance basically admitting the last 2 years have been a catastrophe for (the) Trump admin.”
“‘another chance’ is what you say after the first one went badly,” someone else wrote. “he’s the one who said it.” While on the podcast, Vance tried to act like he was begging for “another chance” because Republicans are still actively working on improving things.
But people took issue with his phrasing. “‘give us another chance’ is typically only said after you f—ed up, not when something is still a work in progress lmfao,” another commenter argued.
People almost couldn’t believe Vance would actually say this.

Like, really? “Give us another chance” is your midterms pitch? “‘Give us another chance’ is CRAZY messaging,” someone commented. “Like, stripping away any personal feelings one might have about the admin and just looking at it in a vacuum, that is just wildly desperate sounding.”
Another critic added, “Begging voters for another chance while midterms are looming is actually tragic. why do politicians always act like they didn’t just spend years ignoring everyone?”
Someone else argued that Vance seems to be “really counting on the electorate being DUMB – with a B,” referencing the way President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that people don’t know that “dumb” is spelled with a B.
Vance did say more than just “give us another chance.”

However, people didn’t necessarily find his broader message more convincing than the short snippet that has been circulating on social media. “I guess I have two basic message,” Vance said on the podcast. “There’s a lot of good that we’ve done over the past 18 months. We cut taxes bigly. We cut taxes on overtime, Social Security, and tips. Those are tax cuts for middle American workers, not just for the elites in Washington and New York City.”
He continued, “We’ve had an amazing success with the border, with immigration. We’ve pursued H1B reform that prioritizes American workers over foreign nationals. There’s a lot of good that’s been done, but there’s a lot of work left to do.”
“Don’t give power to the people who cause the problems that we’re fixing,” he advised before asking for “another chance.”
As for his second point, he claimed that people should support Republicans because… Democrats are “consumed by craziness”?
“The second argument I’d make is, even if you don’t agree with us on every issue, the other party is consumed by craziness,” Vance said. “They’re consumed by people who want to steal everything, who want to give the country over to illegal aliens and criminals. They actively brag about it.”
He later added, “So to the American people, I’d say, send these people packing, put them in the mental hospital, do not put them in Congress, because even if you don’t agree with us on every policy issue, at least we’re motivated by common sense and American interest.”
