The country music world was stunned on Monday to learn that Jelly Roll has filed for divorce from Bunnie Xo. The couple has had its ups-and-downs, and they have been open about that. But over the past year, Bunnie revealed that she was on an IVF journey as the couple tried to have a child together.
In fact, she talked about how difficult IVF is on her “Dumb Blonde” podcast in November with guest Maury Povich. It came after Povich talked about how he and his wife, Connie Chung, tried to have a child.
“We went through the same stuff that you and Jelly Roll have gone through,” Povich told Bunnie per Taste of Country. “We tried to get pregnant. It became a big story that we were trying.”
Povich said he and Chung finally made the decision to adopt.
“It’s tough,” Bunnie said. “But at the same time, it’s like you just put it in God’s hands. If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be. And if not, we can always adopt.
“I’m totally open to adoption too, and so is my husband.”
During an episode of her “Dumb Blonde” podcast back in January of 2025, Bunnie, who is the stepmother to Jelly Roll’s two children — Bailee Ann, 15, and Noah Buddy, 7 — said she was finally ready to be a mom.
“I’ve helped raise Bailee since she was 7, and I think that also showed me that, hey, I’m not gonna (expletive) up a kid’s life too badly,” she said. “But I feel like I’ve mastered … not mastered, but I feel like I can do this. You know? And I just want a little piece of J and I together.”
Later on in the podcast, though, she revealed her heartbreaking background when it comes to pregnancy.
“I have been pregnant three times in my life,” she said. “When I was 16, I got pregnant the first time I had sex, and I ended that with an abortion because I was scared. I didn’t know what to do. I was a runaway. And that after that, three years after I had an ectopic pregnancy, I had two ectopic pregnancies.”
