Jennifer Garner Mourns The Loss Of Her Dad And Shares Precious Throwback Photos

It’s never easy to lose someone you love. Jennifer Garner’s father, William John Garner, died on Saturday, March 30, 2024. He was 85 years old.

Jennifer took to Instagram to announce his death and mark the somber occasion. You can tell she loved him very much. She is so thankful for his role in making her the woman she is today.

“My dad passed peacefully Saturday afternoon,” Jennifer began her post, which also featured photos of her father. “We were with him, singing Amazing Grace as he left us (did we carry him across or scare him away— valid question.) While there is no tragedy in the death of an 85 year old man who lived a healthy, wonderful life, I know grief is unavoidable, waiting around unexpected corners. Today is for gratitude.”

“We are grateful for Dad’s gentle demeanor and quiet strength,” she continued. “For how he teased with a mischievous smile, and for the way he invented the role of all in, ever patient girl dad. We are grateful for his work ethic, leadership and faith.”

William worked as a chemical engineer. Including Jennifer, he had three daughters. The family lived in West Virginia.
