Joe Manganiello has filed from divorce from Sofía Vergara after seven years of marriage. They have a prenup in place and the actor cited "irreconcilable differences" as his reason for filing for divorce. The couple had announced their split in July 2023.
Some sources have said the pair decided to split because of "different attitudes" and interests, and others have said it's because Joe wanted to have kids and Sofía did not.
"We have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the couple said in a statement published by Page Six. “As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect for our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
A source told Page Six that Joe's desire to be a dad is the real reason for their divorce. The actor has allegedly wanted to be a parent for a while, and Sofía was not interested.
Sofía has a 31-year-old son, who she had with her ex-husband, Joe Gonzalez. The couple split a couple years after having their son. Sofía later had child-related drama with her ex-fiancé Nick Loeb.

The then-couple used in vitro fertilization to create two embryos, and Sofía dealt with a long legal battle over the embryos that Nick hoped to bring to term and raise by himself.
The actress is now 51 years old, and had celebrated her birthday with friends in Italy just before the divorce announcement. Sources have claimed that although the former couple's relationship looked good on the surface, they had actually been dealing with issues for a while.
Sources told the Daily Mail that the two had very different personalities, interests and outlooks.
"Joe is a big kid, he loves playing Dungeons & Dragons, he loves wrestling, he is all about video games, superhero movies, comic books, going to concerts, huge NFL fan. He chases fun," the source told the Daily Mail.
The source said this was initially attractive to Sofía, but over time, their differences made it more difficult for them to be together.
"The true versions of themselves started showing and they just got annoyed with each other, choosing work over hanging out," the source said.
The source added that "their attitudes on everything were completely different."
The source said Sofía "is more concerned with the finer things in life, the trips, lavish dinners, being a celebrity, and everything that comes with all of that."
Some fans also suspected something was up when the former couple relisted their Beverly Hills Mansion last month.
A source told People Joe and Sofía had been experiencing "ups and downs for a long time" but "always put on a good front publicly."
People also reported that an insider said they were “both very stubborn" and "there were several things that didn't work" for the couple because they were "always very different."
"They were really trying to make it work though,” the source told People. "They do love each other. No one wants to constantly bicker with their spouse though. Joe has absolutely nothing bad to say about her. She is a great woman. They were just not great together in the long run.”
