Jon Stewart Slams Elon Musk’s ‘Bulls—‘ Excuse For Not Appearing On ‘The Daily Show’

Jon Stewart updated fans on an Elon Musk interview both men said they wanted, before one of them apparently changed his mind.

He’ll be “surprised” if it happens.

At the end of his The Weekly Show podcast on April 24, Stewart was asked by a listener what became of the chat. Stewart joked that Musk appeared on his April 21 Comedy Central TV program The Daily Show and they had a very productive talk — before admitting he has no idea what became of the right-wing tech billionaire he’s quick to criticize.

Talk of a meeting between Stewart and Musk began in late February when it was suggested to Musk he should appear as a guest on The Daily Show to discuss his work with the Trump administration.

Musk responded on X “I will do it if the show airs unedited.”

The Daily Show was quick to accept that offer since, according to Stewart, airing unedited interviews is typically the show’s process anyway. But a short time later, Musk posted on social media that Stewart is a “propagandist” and seemed to sour on meeting him.

Stewart responded to Musk’s apparent change of heart by calling the Tesla CEO‘s excuse “bulls—” on The Daily Show a few days later. He hasn’t heard back.

“I texted him and just said, like, ‘Hey man, so is there somebody I should, you know, have our guys reach out to, to make this happen?’” Stewart said April 24.

Stewart said he was “ghosted” after sending that text and will be surprised if he hears from Musk again.

“And that is the last time I ever…” Stewart laughed.

When one of Stewart’s producers told him Musk recently complained about being criticized by people who don’t share his politics, the funnyman accused the hundred-billionaire kingmaker of shamelessly making himself out to be a victim.
