Justin Bieber has had a rough go of it over the past few years. Despite his marriage to the former Hailey Baldwin, the young pop star has been struggling. He has been openly grappling with his mental health. He's admitted that his rise to fame at a young age left him with a distrust of people, and he has a hard time knowing his authentic self. Being in your mid-20s can be a confusing time as it stands, and when it comes to Justin, he has to navigate it with the world watching.

It's no secret that Justin has been guilty of some bad behavior in the past. He's working to grow past that point in his life, but it doesn't stop people from seeing him as a bad seed. In 2019, some Icelandic officials cited one of Justin's music videos as the reason why a canyon in their country has been ruined by tourists. As a result, they've closed the fragile space to visitors.
Justin Bieber has been trying to grow as a person. The star has been very open about his attempts to get into a better mental space.

Justin has opened up to fans about his mental health struggles. He explained that growing up in the spotlight has taken a toll on him.
Justin's been working on being better by getting in touch with his spirituality and going to therapy. He also credits his wife, Hailey Bieber (née Baldwin), for her patience and support while on this journey.
Reports suggest that things are rocky for the couple as Justin works through some trust issues. Still, they are dedicated to putting in the hard work necessary to make a marriage work.
That work can sometimes be made harder by intrusion of the outside world. Justin recently had to shut down fans who accused him of only being with Hailey to get back at ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez.
Another accusation is being hurled Justin's way that isn't particularly fair. In 2019, he was blamed for indirectly causing an Icelandic canyon to be closed off from the public.
In 2015, Justin visited Iceland to film a music video there. The video for "I'll Show You" debuted that November.
The video shows Justin running through lush green land. He even takes a dip in a glacial pool.
Beliebers were captivated by the beautiful scenery in Justin's video. The video was shot at Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon in southeast Iceland.
Before Justin's video was shot there, the area was well known to locals but off the beaten path. Afterward, many people wanted to visit the area.
Lonely Planet reports that the influx in visitors has done a number on the fragile vegetation in the area. Thawing weather conditions have also impacted the area.
As a result, the canyon was closed for the second time in two years. It was originally slated to close for just two weeks, but was eventually extended.
Daníel Freyr Jónsson of the Environmental Agency of Iceland explained that the boom coincided with the release of the "I'll Show You" video. "This canyon was somewhat unknown," he said, according to Lonely Planet. "But I think Icelanders have known about it a lot longer. The great increase in foot traffic began after Bieber came. There has been an increase of 50% to 80% between 2016, 2017 and 2018."
It looks like Beliebers will have one less site to see in Iceland, at least until the area recovers a bit. Hopefully, Justin and his fans will recognize this as a reason to continue the conversation around environmental preservation and climate change.
