What to Know
Kai Trump, who is President Donald Trump’s granddaughter, has been documenting her life via her own YouTube channel. She’s 19 years old, and some of her videos have gotten a decent amount of attention — but not necessarily for positive reasons. In a recently resurfaced video, Kai made a comment about how people don’t like her because of her last name, and while some people didn’t totally agree with her interpretation, her family is obviously extremely controversial.
The negative attention hasn’t stopped Kai from sharing details about her life, though. Recently, she posted about her last week of high school and revealed that she “trashed” a classroom at her school.
She and her classmates made a mess outside and inside their school.
In one part of her video, Kai went inside her favorite teacher’s classroom with the intention of making a mess. She moved classroom chairs into the hallway and stood on top of a desk to throw paper towels around the room.
To make it clear that she was the one behind this prank, she hung a photo of herself with the name of her future university on the whiteboard and scrawled her name across her teacher’s desk (in dry-erase marker).
“So, we trashed this room completely,” she said before moving on to the next part of the prank.
With the help of her classmates, she also covered the stairs in cups.
Creating an obstacle on campus, Kai and some of her classmates covered the school’s stairways with upside-down red solo cups. They also went outside, turning chairs over and “decorating” the space with streamers and plastic wrap.
Kai seemed proud as she showed off all of the damage she and her classmates did. However, after giving her YouTube followers a tour of the campus she “trashed,” she admitted, “We’re gonna have to clean it up.”
Part of the video was actually emotional.
Throughout most of the video, Kai was laughing about the stunt and having fun with her friends. But by the end of it, she seemed quite sad about moving on from high school.
“It’s crazy it’s happening,” she said, “Yeah, I’m very emotional today. I think tomorrow’s gonna be 10x worse. But, you know, excited for the next chapter.”
She started to tear up as she talked about how much she would miss her friends and her school. And Kai’s definitely not alone in that. Graduating from high school can feel bittersweet.
But still, people find it hard to relate to her.
Like she did in this video, Kai tries to share details about herself and her life online. People are not always receptive to that. She was previously criticized for flaunting her luxurious grocery shopping trip to Erewhon, for example.
During an appearance on Logan Paul’s podcast, Kai seemed bothered by the fact that her controversial family has influenced people’s perceptions of her. At the same time, Trump critics argued that Kai has fully taken advantage of being part of the Trump family and has not exactly tried to stay out of the spotlight. Perhaps she’s creating her vlogs in an attempt to show people who she really is.
Kai said, “Some people don’t like me — I mean 50% of the world doesn’t like me — because of my last name. But like, they don’t actually know me. I’m hoping that if people actually give me a shot and not look at the last name, I won’t have any opps, but we’ll see.”
