What to Know
In the past, conservatives such as Katie Miller and Kid Rock have tried to blame the declining birth rate in the United States on women who they deem unattractive. But now, Katie is also blaming unattractive men. Recently, she took to social media to share a chart titled “Childless Rate by Political Ideology.” The chart claims that “extremely liberal men” are less likely to have children when compared to conservatives. The partisan divide when it comes to parenthood is a real thing. According to the Institute for Family Studies, when looking at the 2020s, only 22% of liberal men ages 25-35 have had a child (compared with 47% of conservative men).
And while there are likely many factors contributing to this gap, Katie boiled it down to one: “Liberal men aren’t attractive.”
People couldn’t help but wonder why she, of all people, commented on this.

Of course, judging people based on how they look is not great. But after Katie suggested that liberal men are ugly, lots of people started making comments about Katie’s husband, United States Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller. Although Fox News host Jesse Watters seems to find him hot, the internet disagrees.
“Ummm… ma’am,” one critic commented on Katie’s post. “Have you seen your husband?” People did not have anything nice to say about Stephen. “You married Squidward,” another critic wrote. “You’re married to Nosferatu,” someone else commented. “Sit this one out.”
But if she was seeking engagement, she got it.

Sure, the majority of people vehemently disagreed with Katie’s take—and criticized her husband—but at least she garnered a lot of comments and likes on X? Presumably, that’s really all she wanted (how her husband feels about this social media strategy remains unclear). The viral post also made its way to Reddit, where people continued to bash Katie’s husband. Some people assumed this was exactly what she was going for when she shared her original post.
“I feel like she tweeted this knowing the backlash that would follow,” one Redditor commented. Others assumed Katie said something controversial for attention because she’s trying to be a prominent MAGA influencer.
But looks aren’t everything, anyway.

Yes, there were lots and lots of jokes about Katie’s husband (and lots of comparisons to Squidward and Nosferatu). But there were also a fair number of comments from people who reminded everyone that other qualities are far more important. Unfortunately, those same critics don’t think Stephen has any of those positive qualities, either.
Someone on X argued that “liberal men have a higher chance of empathy and respect for women,” which makes them more attractive. As for Stephen? “normally I’d say looks aren’t everything and maybe he’s got a good personality,” one of the critics wrote. “but I know for a fact that that man’s personality is worse than his looks.”
Katie previously blamed liberal women for the declining birth rate.
Conservative women are just factually more attractive than liberal women.

It’s why more conservatives than liberals are having babies. https://t.co/gfpzhsmEtu
She shared a clip of Kid Rock to support her claim. “Conservative women are just factually more attractive than liberal women,” she wrote back in January. “It’s why more conservatives than liberals are having babies.”
While that post also sparked a ton of backlash, it perhaps did not inspire as much ridicule as her post about men. It seems she has her husband to thank for that, in a weird way.
