Katie Miller Unexpectedly Defends AOC After Conservatives Attack Her For Freezing Her Eggs

When conservatives started hating on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after she decided to freeze her eggs, one of the last people anyone expected to jump to her defense was Katie Miller. Katie, who is married to Stephen Miller, is well known for her rage bait. She frequently takes to social media to make contentious statements about hot-button issues.

And yet, in spite of the significant amount of conservative outrage directed at AOC, Katie, of all people, defended her choice.

Conservatives largely acted like AOC was being irresponsible.

Conservative commentator Lauren Chen wrote, “AOC is 36. She has been engaged to her long-term boyfriend since 2022. Why on earth is she freezing her eggs instead of just getting married and trying for kids now? This is madness.” (A few days later, reports emerged saying AOC and her partner had split up).

Another conservative commentator, Matt Walsh, had a similar reaction and criticized AOC for potentially having children too “late in life.” He wrote, “She’ll turn 37 in a couple months. If she got pregnant now, it would technically be a geriatric pregnancy. Instead she’s freezing her eggs. This desire to start having children late in life is completely baffling to me. I’ll have kids in theirs 20s by the time I turn 50. AOC apparently wants to have a toddler at that age. Totally backwards and ridiculous.”

Of course, plenty of people told the critics to mind their own business. “The public celebrates Anne Hathaway being pregnant at 43 and ridicules AOC for freezing her eggs at 36,” journalist Lola Méndez wrote on X. “No matter what choices you make with your body as a woman, someone will be angered by it.”

No one expected Katie to be among the people defending AOC’s right to make her own reproductive choices.

In her own post addressing the backlash, Katie wrote, “We have historically low birth rates worldwide. If one woman wants to preserve her right to have children, which means more than having none—we should celebrate that.” This is admittedly a bit surprising coming from her (Katie previously made headlines for saying liberals have fewer kids because they’re unattractive).

Of course, the way in which she went about defending AOC was still pretty on brand. Because she also threw in a comment about the supposed “feminist lie” that makes women want to have kids when they’re older (or perhaps not at all). Some things never change.

“More women should get married and have babies younger, but too many women buy into the feminist lie and spend their childbearing years climbing the career ladder,” she continued.

At the same time, she also added, “Everyone’s journey to motherhood is different, just as each of us mothers differently. I can’t wait to see how motherhood changes AOC.”

Needless to say, Katie’s comments still rubbed people the wrong way.

This time, both conservatives and progressives seemed disgusted by her take. Conservatives were mad that she defended AOC’s decision. And progressives still thought she was being hypocritical and acting like all women need to prioritize motherhood. “What feminist lie?” one critic wrote in response. “That women should be able to choose when/where/if they want kids? Or if they want to work? Or if they want to do both?”

Someone else added, “Katie Miller: 34, just gave birth. Usha Vance: 40, just gave birth. Melania: gave birth to her only child at 35.”

But some people actually agreed with her, for the most part. “I agree,” one person commented. “I don’t get all the shaming happening over how people come to motherhood.”

Some of the people who agreed with her actually sounded less than thrilled about it. “Hell has frozen over, I’m agreeing with Katie Miller,” another commenter wrote.
