Apparently, Kid Rock likes to call President Donald Trump while drinking late at night, and people online are not even the slightest bit impressed. The long-time MAGA supporter is obviously buddy-buddy with the Trump administration. He has joined Trump at the White House before, ridden in Army helicopters with Pete Hegseth, and made a workout video with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., for some reason.
This type of involvement has obviously sparked backlash and raised concerns in the past, and during a recent interview, the 55-year-old singer admitted he sometimes drunk-calls Trump just to chat.

Apparently, they both have sleeping habits that allow for this, at least according to Kid Rock. Critics found the admission pathetic and embarrassing for both men, because Kid Rock also claimed that he could always count on the president to answer his calls.
During an interview with Paul Murray from Sky News, Kid Rock said chatting with the president is “one of my late-night drinking tricks because I know when to get him.”
He said, “He’s so gracious, he always picks up, or he’ll call and check in just to shoot the s—.” Critics on Reddit thought Trump should be embarrassed by this being made public. “This is tremendously embarrassing for him,” one critic wrote, while another added that it’s actually “one of the saddest things I’ve ever heard.”
“Trump has so few friends that he’s willing to accept drunken phone calls and flexes from Kid Rock in the middle of the night,” someone else added.
But aside from the fact that it’s Kid Rock, of all people, who Trump is apparently always available for late at night, people also found it concerning that the president of the United States is apparently answering drunk calls around midnight.
Kid Rock did clarify that Trump isn’t calling him for political advice.
So, at least there’s that? During the interview, Kid Rock explained, “He’s not calling me to [ask], ‘Hey, what should we do in Iran, Bob?’ I don’t get those calls.” Which is a relief. But people still find the nature of their relationship concerning (and humiliating for both of them).
Kid Rock continued, “But, if I’m sitting around having some beers, if it’s like 11, 12, on a Friday or Saturday, I know he’s up. He sleeps like me, he sleeps five hours.”
People found this embarrassing for Kid Rock too. One critic noted that calling Trump late at night is “literally not the flex he thinks it is.” Ultimately, people couldn’t decide who sounded more “pathetic” in this friendship: Trump or Kid Rock.
But they decided that these supposed late-night calls might explain why Trump appears so tired during the day. One critic joked that Kid Rock knows Trump will be awake to answer his calls at night because “he slept through his daytime meetings” and is therefore well-rested.
Critics also made fun of Vice President JD Vance.
In their eyes, this story (if true) is pretty humiliating for Vance as well. “Donald can pick up the phone for Kid Rock, but he won’t pick up the phone when JD calls,” a critic commented.
And when someone tried to argue that no one really cares about Trump and Kid Rock’s late-night conversation, another critic responded, “JD Vance probably does. He wishes Trump took his phone calls.”
