The 2023 Primetime Emmy Awards were held on January 15, 2024. They had been delayed because of the actors and writers strikes. The popular HBO series Succession took home seven Emmys for its final season. Kieran Culkin took home best lead actor in a drama for his work in it.
The father of two used his speech to make a request and reveal some family secrets. Kieran not only thanked his wife but also asked for more kids. Kieran also thanked his mom but did not mention his father. It was later reported that his mom is not in good health.
“My beautiful wife, Jazz, thank you for sharing your life with me and giving me two amazing kids," Kieran gushed in his acceptance speech. "Kinsey Sioux and Wilder Wolf, I love you so many and so much. And Jazz, I want more. You said — you said maybe if I win! I love you."
Patricia Brentrup, Kieran’s mother, is not in good health according to reports from Page Six. Kieran’s stepfather also shared with the media outlet that Kieran has been helping care for her. During his speech, Kieran thanked his mom “for giving me life and my childhood, which was great. So thank you for that.” He did not mention his father but has previously stated in interviews that he did not believe his father was not a very good person.

Backstage, Kieran continued to praise his mother. “She’s just an absolutely wonderful woman who took on raising seven kids in a studio apartment, by herself,” he stated. He indirectly talked about his father, Kit Culkin. “There was a guy there — he didn’t do anything,” Kieran added.
