General Hospital star Kirsten Storms has been dealing with some personal issues that caused her to take a break from the show. Her ex-husband’s recent restraining order against her shed some light on what might be going on with her, but now, she’s explaining the situation from her perspective.
Back in April of this year, her ex-husband, Brandon Barash, obtained an emergency restraining order against her. He alleged that his ex-wife was dealing with a “mental health crisis” and “experiencing delusions and hallucinations.”
In court documents, Barash recalled incidents that led him to worry about Storms and their 12-year-old daughter.
He claimed that Storms had agreed to get mental health support in June 2025, but “never followed through,” and that her behavior became more concerning after that. About a month later, the actress announced her break from General Hospital. In October 2025, she revealed that she had been diagnosed with a brain aneurysm and moved to Tennessee for “personal reasons.”
He alleged that, in November 2025, Storms told him that people were breaking into her home and trying to “mess with her.” According to his allegations, the actress has experienced “repeated episodes of melting down, being triggered, hearing things/voices that weren’t there.”
She shared an update on June 8.
In a lengthy post on Instagram, Kirsten addressed her ex-husband’s claims and shared some details about the alleged break-in. “I’m sure some of you guys have read the stories online regarding a situation involving something my ex-husband is currently trying to claim,” she wrote. “Because I did see one story online stating I reported the apartment break-in AFTER he filed something against me in court, I really need to address this entire situation.”
She explained that she felt compelled to address the issue publicly because “it puts my safety in a dangerous position for anyone to try and shift focus away from the fact that there was a person regularly entering my residence.”
In another post, she shared photos of the lock on her apartment door to show her followers the “extensive and obvious” damage. She also clarified that “the break-in happened and was reported to the building and Franklin PD before (Barash) filed anything in court.”
Elsewhere in the post, she explained that she’s been dealing with a lot lately. “Moving to Tennessee, as a single mom who lives alone 50% of the time, with a newly discovered brain aneurysm….well, I don’t think I need to explain how upsetting this entire situation has been for me,” she wrote.
She added, “I haven’t been online much because of how the circumstances have been twisted into something that it shouldn’t be. This has been a very serious thing for me to go through.”
People have also been wondering what this means for Storms’ future on General Hospital.
She touched on this in her post as well. “As for what is in my future, where GH is concerned….Given what’s been going on, I can’t say I will feel comfortable heading back to Los Angeles and returning to work,” she said. “This has been an eye opening experience about the downside of my profession.”
At the end of the post, Storms said being a mom is her priority. “My daughter is my entire life, she is (and always will be) my first priority,” she wrote.
In Barash’s complaint, he expressed concerns about Storms’ “ability to adequately care” for their daughter. Right now, she’s allowed to have supervised visitation with their 12-year-old, the Daily Mail reported.
