Knicks Fans Don’t Claim Erika Kirk After She Celebrates Game 4 Win

When someone figures out why Charlie Kirk’s widow Erika Kirk chimed in about the NBA Finals on social media, can someone call me and explain to me why? Just kidding. Well, sort of. Because, along with a ton of Knicks fans on social media, I too am a little confused about why she posted on X (formerly Twitter) about the team. Especially since she is not from New York City.

It’s one thing for Donald Trump to root for the Knicks. He is a New Yorker, even if he does divide his time between Washington, D.C. and Mar-a-Lago in Florida. But Erika grew up in Arizona, so if anything, you might expect her to be a Spurs fan. But some Knicks fans are calling her more of a fair-weather fan than anything else, and others just choose to ignore that she is part of the same fandom.

Erika Kirk’s NBA Finals post was unexpected for some.

After game four ended and the Knicks managed to finally get a win in the seven-game Playoff series, Erika posted on X, “First time watching basketball in way too long! What a clutch ending for the Knicks tonight!!!” Excuse me, ma’am? That’s where she lost some other Knicks fans. Maybe she now claims the team because of Trump’s own allegiance to the Knicks and his appearance at game three. Whatever the case may be, people were expected to see a social media post like that from Erika.

“That’s crazy but I don’t remember asking,” one user wrote in response to Erika’s X post.

Another person commented, “No. Nope. No no no. You keep your MAGA grifting ass away from the Knicks and keep Donnie away from them too. You’re a plague.”

“Respectfully, you can just not tweet stuff like this for a while,” a user added.

Someone even commented on the X post with an alleged screenshot from a post that Charlie made once where he cheered on the Spurs. However, it’s unclear how legitimate that screenshot is.

Knicks fans don’t want any part of her.

Maybe some Knicks fans are happy to have Erika on their side. The Knicks were already a pretty big deal, even before they made it to the 2026 NBA Finals. But others were ready to denounce Erika almost as soon as she made that X post, because if this is the first time she bothered to watch basketball in a long time, they don’t really need her to be a fan along with them, now do they?

Someone wrote, “Don’t start your s–t Erika! Not right now. Stay the hell away from the Knicks. Please. For the love of God.”

“Don’t make this about yourself,” an X user warned. “We had just forgotten your name. Come back when the Finals end.”

Another person flat out wrote, “Stay away from the Knicks…You are not welcome…For the love of God there isn’t enough sage on earth.”

Erika Kirk did play basketball once upon a time.

Maybe Erika just wants to remind everyone of the times she played basketball herself. She played basketball at Regis University in Colorado, so she does have her own history with the sport.

But that didn’t stop some Knicks fans from insisting that she stay far away from their favorite team. Others aren’t too concerned with Erika’s renewed interest in the game, but some fans are not here to welcome her into the fold.
