Jelly Roll really enjoyed Lainey Wilson’s wedding — but perhaps a bit too much. The musician had nothing but good things to say about the celebration while speaking at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s All for the Hall event on September 17. Lainey and her husband, Devlin “Duck” Hodges, tied the knot in Tennessee back in May 2026.
Reflecting on the planning process and her overall vision for the special occasion, Lainey previously told Vogue that she wanted her wedding to be “really welcoming and comfortable” for her guests. Based on how Jelly Roll described the celebration, it seems like she achieved that.
Jelly Roll said it was “the nicest wedding I’ve ever been to.”

Lainey clearly went all out. At the recent event, Jelly Roll talked about how the wedding had great food, drinks, and entertainment. “Can I just say it was the nicest wedding I’ve ever been to?” he said, per People. “Man, that wedding was f—ing fancy. That wedding was super snazzy.”
He loved the music (Lainey hired a jazz band for the special occasion). “I ate all the snacks. I ate two meals!” he recalled. “She had a Mardi Gras parade coming for her and Duck out of the wedding. It was wild.”
Lainey previously told Vogue that her wedding was intentionally Louisiana-inspired even though it was held in Tennessee. “We tried not to take ourselves too seriously,” she told the publication. “Being from Louisiana, I wanted to bring in a little bit of Cajun flair, so naturally we hired a 12-piece jazz band called Rebirth and had a Cajun meal from the chefs at my bar, Bell Bottoms Up.”
Still, it wasn’t exactly like Mardi Gras.
Sure, she might’ve been inspired by the celebration, but there were still some differences. For one, people weren’t “flashing anybody” at her wedding, she explained. This was where Jelly Roll sort of disagreed, though.
“You wasn’t flashing nobody,” he clarified when speaking to Lainey. “I was flashing.” At this point, Lainey seemed to confirm this. “You were flashing everybody by the end of the night,” she said.
Jelly Roll’s behavior has been making headlines recently.
Of course, his fairly recent divorce has gotten a decent amount of attention. But that was later overshadowed by his controversial guest-hosting stint on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Before his time on the show, fans and critics alike assumed Jelly Roll supported President Donald Trump. However, when he started telling jokes, people started to question whether they had misjudged him. Many of his fans were upset and threatened to stop supporting his music.
Before his guest-hosting gig wrapped up, he took a moment to clarify what his political views actually are, especially because some people had assumed he wasn’t writing his own Trump jokes. He seemed to suggest that he’s not MAGA but not exactly a “liberal snowflake” either. Instead, he’s actually “pretty down the middle.” Admittedly, though, when questioned about politics at the Grammys earlier this year, he “fumbled (his) words.”
“That night at the Grammys, I had an opportunity to speak up for people who were scared, hurting, and felt like nobody was speaking for them,” he said. “I had a microphone and I didn’t use it the right way.”
