What to Know
Even though Barron Trump tends to stay out of the spotlight more than most members of the Trump family, that hasn’t stopped people from talking about him. His rare public appearances often make headlines, and people regularly speculate about what he’s saying and thinking. According to Lara Trump, who is married to Barron’s older brother Eric, the fact that not much is known about Barron is perhaps what makes him so interesting to people.
In a recent video shared on her YouTube channel, Lara took questions from people online. One of those questions was about Barron: “What is Barron Trump like? Does he like that the entire internet is obsessed with him?”
Lara repeatedly described Barron as “cool.”
“You want to hear more about Barron because you see less of him, and I think that’s kind of cool,” she said in response to the question. She went on to explain that although he tends to stay out of the spotlight, he still “knows what’s going on out there.”
She told a story about how, during dinner at the White House, everyone was debating whether an unspecified image was real or AI-generated. And according to Lara, only she and Barron were able to identify that it was AI. She used this little anecdote as an example of how informed and intelligent Barron is.
“We had a huge discussion at dinner on Sunday night at the White House about whether a certain image—I won’t tell you what it is—was AI or real,” she explained. “And Barron and I were the only two that said, ‘That’s AI. You guys are all wrong. It’s AI.’ We were right. Proved it that night. So, he gets it. He gets what’s going on out there.”
While we don’t know what image Lara was referring to or who was involved in this debate, it seems kind of concerning that only Lara and Barron were able to identify it as AI. Of course, Barron is young, so this example also feels kind of reminiscent of the time President Donald Trump said Barron has an “unbelievable aptitude in technology” because he managed to turn on a laptop.
She also revealed that Barron is eager to graduate from college.
The 20-year-old has been studying at New York University, but according to Lara, he’s eager to start working. Somehow, according to Lara, this shows that the president is a great dad.
She said, “I think he’s got two years left of college, but he’s excited to finish college and get out and work, which I love, (and) which shows you that, look, the president has had the opportunity now to raise five different kids and they all are great, hard workers who want to contribute and I think that speaks volumes about who he is as well. But Barron’s cool.”
Recently, the Trump family has come under fire for not ever serving in the military. Amid the war in Iran, there have been many calls for Barron to enlist, and some critics have mentioned that even Eric and Tiffany are still young enough to enlist as well.
Lara also explained why Barron prefers to “lay low.”
There’s been lots of discussion about how Barron’s mom, Melania Trump, is very protective of her son, which might at least partially explain why Barron has stayed out of the spotlight. But Lara framed this tendency as a choice he is making for himself.
“I don’t know if he knows that the internet is obsessed with him,” Lara said. “I think he knows that there’s a lot of interest, but that’s why he likes to lay low. That’s why he likes to play it cool. That’s why you don’t see him all the time. He’s such a smart kid, he’s a great kid, (and) he’s funny.”
