In this clip from A&E’s Interrogation Raw, you catch a glimpse of the tragic story of Laura Grillo, who was found brutally murdered just one week before her wedding.
“She was like this ray of sunshine,” Laura’s longtim friend, Heather, remembers of the mother of three. “She wanted to just make the world a better place.”
Not long after the authorities arrived on the scene on the day of her murder, Laura’s fiancé, John Makris, showed up. He immediately asked if Laura was inside the house, and the police divulged that she appeared to have been the victim of a fatal gunshot wound.
Laura and John had been together for approximately seven years. They had a 4-year-old together, and Laura also had two older children from previous relationships.
The police couldn’t find any signs of forced entry into the home, but it was apparent that this attack was deliberate and someone wanted Laura dead.
The authorities took John in for routine questioning, and at first glance, he didn’t appear to be anything other than a grieving and confused fiancé who was left wondering who had done this to his soon-to-be wife. He even had a convincing alibi for the time of Laura’s murder.
John said he had met up with two employees from his construction business that morning. James Villeda and Emmanuel “Jesus” Trevino came in for an interrogation and appeared to have matching stories, but something still wasn’t sitting quite right with the detectives.
