Los Angeles Mother Of Two Fearful Of The Eclipse Dies In Apparent Murder-Suicide

On Monday, April 8, 2024, a rare natural phenomenon occurred in the US, a solar eclipse. The moon covered the sun for a short time that day. One Los Angeles woman perceived this as a threat and allegedly went on to kill her partner, one of her two children, and finally herself.

It was a tragic series of events. Danielle Johnson, 34, was an astrology influencer. Before allegedly committing these horrific crimes she warned about the potential "spiritual warfare" the celestial event would bring.

Johnson’s partner was identified by the Los Angeles Police Department as Jaelen Chaney, 29. “On April 8, 2024, around 3:40 a.m. Chaney and Johnson became involved in a verbal altercation that escalated into Johnson becoming violent, stabbing Chaney, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene,” a press release stated. “A knife with biological evidence was later recovered from the scene.”

Neighbors discovered Chaney's body at around 7:35 a.m. The apartment door was left open and they were concerned.

Authorities believe Johnson fled the scene shortly after committing the murder. She took her two children, an 8-month-old and a 9-year-old, with her. While driving on Interstate 405 at around 4:30 a.m., she allegedly pushed the baby and child out of the car.

The 9-year-old was “moderately” injured. The child was rushed to a local hospital for treatment but survived. Their sibling was fatally injured and declared dead at the scene.

Around 5 a.m. Johnson’s motives turned inward. She crashed her Porsche SUV into a tree driving at speeds of over 100 mph. “Johnson did not survive the crash and was the sole occupant of the vehicle,” police stated.

Johnson posted multiple warnings about the eclipse in the days leading up to it. Perhaps these can give an insight into her motives. “This eclipse is the epitome of spiritual warfare,” she wrote on X on April 4. “Get your protection on and your heart in the right place.”

“The world is very obviously changing right now and if you ever needed to pick a side, the time to do right in your life is now,” she went on to say. “Stay strong you got this.”
